Local news are reporting Supreme Court Chief Justice died on Saturday night at his home in Virginia.

Too bad-
He was a truly moderate voice of reason on the Court, and I heard that he was a true gentleman. I will miss him.
(I shudder to think who they'll try to get next.)

Well you can be sure this will put the Robertson nomination in a totally different light. Bush and pals were hoping to put some distance between appointments to avoid railing the opposition.
A more important worry for now will be whom is going to be the new chief justice? Quite sure they'd like to choose a conservative and one will be even money the oppostion has the belly for a fight on that matter.
