Our New machine - LG 7kg DD f/load

hey all!
so after months of searching, i eventually found our 2nd machine. an LG WD-12397TD 7kg DD front loader. i wanted a 7kg front loader but couldnt find a new-ish 1 at a decent price. and then this came along. i grabbed it immediately! had it for 3 weeks and its brilliant. now with it being winter here, a 2nd machine is needed even though i wash wednesdays, saturdays and sundays. the amnount i can get into my samsung 13kg top loader is the same as i can get in here (thats why i wanted a 7kg). the machine does a great job and has plenty cycles. i use bulky most as it washes and rinses with a hgh water level so its perfect for blankets (did that today) and very full mixed loads. the 1200rpm spin wprks a real treat. the cottons, cotton quick, synthetic, delicate and quick30 cycles are alo very good.
all round great machine. just wish i could select the intensive option on quick 30

What means...

..."Detecting" in the programme display? Does it weigh the load?

Yip you guessed it. On cotton and synthetic is does 3 quick spins to weigh the load. Quite handy actually.

We have that on our Candy TL, too...

...Does not really a good job, sometimes it misinterprets heaviest loads for lighter ones...

I sometimes have that on my samsung top loader. So I just manually set the water level

Glad to hear you like your LG washing machine. I know some people slate LG, however having hands on experience with 2 LG machines in the family with me using them daily I think they're good pieces of kit.

Especially our LG steam 9kg 1400rpm F1479FDS5, doesn't 'faff; around to baalnce loads, programmes don't take excessively long and the detection at the beginning of the wash works very well.

The older LG being the 7.5kg 1200rpm WM12220FD at grans, its around 7 years old (I think). Also detects the load however wash times are slightly longer but performance is flawless. No problems what so ever and it is on evey day and works a treat.

Congratulations on the purchase of your lg washer. I have the 8kg f1281tg and love it. Can't understand why you can't use intensive on quick wash. With my machine I can select intensive and extra rinses and select a spin of 1200 on the quick wash programme and takes 58 mins in total.

It's very quiet in operation and washing results are excellent.

I love LG machines. I think they're awesome. I love the 9kg steam model but my dream machine is the 11kg steam washer. I've seen 1 in the flesh but they just really expensive. So for now the 7kg LG and the 13kg samsung are perfect for now. I've washed 22 high school rugby jerseys in a previous 7kg LG I've had (in 1 load) and they came out perfect. And the detecting function is very cool I haven't had problems

A year ago I had an LG 8.5kg washer/dryer that I sold and on that 1 I could select intensive and the full 1200 rpm spin and it took 45 mins on 40 degrees. This 7kg I can put it on 40 degrees and 1200 apin and it takes 36 mins. I can't select any options on quick 30. But as I said, bulky is brilliant. 30 degrees and 1200 spin in 1 hour 5 mins. I mainly wash with 30 degrees. Whites on 40. And towels and linen 60. But everything else 30. And cotton quick only let's the spin go to 800. Haven't tried the 800 spin on normal clothes yet, only jerseys. And its perfect for jerseys.
And I have to agree, both LGs I've had have been DD and they are super quiet. Even spinnin at 1200 rpm! And the results are always brilliant. Can just be a bit fussy with detergents. I use a quarter of what I use in the top loader. I use the New Zealand Xpert concentrated because I get brilliant results from it with cold water in my top loader and even better results between 30 and 60 in the LG. But if I put just a lil too much I have to do an extra rinse at the end of the cycle as we don't use softener.
But all in all I love it. If I come accross a decent priced 8 or 9 or even 11 kg I might consider getting a bigger 1.

Unfortunately, one cannot adjust water levels at Euro toploaders... Even with the allergy function (which means a plus of water) the machine had problems with cleaning the clothes thoroughly...

Well I'm very happy that all top loaders in SA have a water level/load size selector. Very handy. Note that these aren't H-axis top loaders, but pulsator top loaders and heavy duty agitator top loaders. AEG is the only company that has H-axis top loaders in SA but they're tiny and over priced so I don't think they sell too well
