Loss of income from roomate moving out: $400 a month

Cost to replace ruined carpeting in roomate's bedroom $500

1 gallon of ceiling paint $15

3 gallons of Benjamin Moore interior eggshell paint in custom colors $125

opposite corner

All that remains is the trim, which will be the color of the Convertible's bag

Very nice Jeff, the colors are PERFECT! So do you plan on using this for the 1st floor section of Hooverland? ;-)

Will you put in a convertible hood as a light fixture - perh

Had not thought of that, Michael is reading this over my shoulder, and he likes the idea!

Fred and I are going to make a lamp out of a spare 1070 Convertible he has, AND I was thinking of putting my Hoover twinnie in that room as an end table.

Hey Jeff, the room looks completely different - and mucho better! Great shades from a great era - and great painting skills! I think you should go with Greg's idea - it'll be the icing on the cake ;-)

paisley and floral??

Well, I still have my bedroom to do too...

I am planning on using the blue and the beige in there, and maybe the brown from the trim.
My room is like 15 X 17, so there's lots to paint!

Looks great!

Can't wait to see the rest of it.

Benjamin Moore eggshell paint is the way to go. I wouldn't think of using anything else. It always matches the paint chip. It always matches perfectly from can to can. It covers well. The colors always have a quality appearance. And it spreads like butter. It's worth every penny. But it costs quite a few pennies, doesn't it?

Thanks Steve

I can't wait to have the rest done!

Yes the Benjamin Moore stuff was expensive, $35 a gallon....
BUT it was done right by a really nice guy at the local hardware store, and I didn't have to fight crowds or deal with attitude that you get at Home Depot or Lowes.
To me it was worth every penny to have it done right the first time!

Thanks Steve!

I'm glad its done, and at least now the paint smell has faded away.
One more room to go!
This was a project for me, never really been much of a painter, so I was not sure if I was doing it right or not. I went at it with the goal of having more on the walls than on me or Jack, and I accomplished that.
My dad LOVES painting, I have a couple of friends who do as well, and the whole time I was doing this I was thinking "What the hell is so much fun about this?"
Maybe I have to paint some more? An aquired taste perhaps?

Ooooh, I love that turquoise! When do we get to see the peach walls?

I think you should use the turquoise in your bedroom, too; it'd go really well with your comforter.

I totally agree with Greg--Convertible hood sconces would be the icing on the cake!

The peach is there...

the walls are done Veg, now just have to do the trim. I have to go but that paint still though!

Wow, Jeff.
I couldn't imagine what it was going to look like, but it looks fab! And of course it should, the 1070 is the prettiest machine ever built. I dare you to make drapes out of a 4017 bag!

I have to agree with you on that one Bobby, that is one beautiful machine, and one of my favorites too.
Now if you could just convince my mother those colors look nice in the same room, life would be good.
Sometimes there's no pleasing Gladys!

You have me stumped on the 4017 though, I don't have one of those, so I don't know what the bag looks like.

I was thinking I'd make the drapes out of Eureka bags, not much use for those right? (ducks and runs!)
LOL

Jeff

Those colors really did come out nice! Can't wait to see it with that great bedspread of yours! I agree that spending more for quality will give you better results in the long run! Great job!

Ha ha, Eureka bags. Very funny. THe 4017 is the beige/brown flower power bag! You must be slipping, Jeff. Even the Hoover hater knows the model # of the flower power bag! (hiding behind the Eureka)

Slipping?? MOI???

Nah Bobby I'm not slipping, I just don't know everything, and thats the place in Hoover history where they went bazooey with the model #'s and I can't keep up with them all. I can look the 4017 up and see it was a promo model 1973-74, but no picture or colors. There were also about 8 other Convertibles in the line at that time as well, so many variations on a single theme!
Flower power eh??? What does the rest of it look like?

Now come out from behind that Eureka, as soon as I take that bag there won't be anything to hide behind! {GRIN}

Marty: Thanks for the nice words, I am happy with it. Now to just get it done and face the next challenge - picking out carpeting!
Can you say sensory overload?
