Geez, I'd be happy with water just into the boot.
What the Electrodaire logic seems to be is that the user is never supposed to stuff the drum full of anything. And by stuffing I mean just loosely filling the whole space, with towels, clothes, whatever. Do that and you are guaranteed to have a load of laundry that's barely moistened during the wash cycle and absolutely not cleaned.
I don't understand why more people don't complain about this. I'll never buy Frigidaire again, and won't even consider Electrolux since they're guilty by association. My Duet did a fine job with large loads. My Affinity routinely disgusts me.
How any manufacturer thinks they can market a machine that doesn't use enough water to get clothes clean escapes me. Even filling up into the window as pictured, a FL machine still would use far less water than a TL and in the long run would still be an ecologically responsible purchase.

an added benefit is the clothes don't tangle causing it to "play" during the final spin to get the clothes distributed, usually 2 turns and then takes off for about the whole 12 minutes, and those clothes are plastered to the tub, even after the final fluff....who knew?

I argued with Frigidaire over and over, and their only response is they'll let their design team know about it, and make corrections for future machines......one tech called me and after washing 2 towels in their demo model, they felt the machine was functioning properly.......I told him his head was up his ass, and to wash a real load of clothes, like soiled diapers, and then tell me theres enough for proper cleaning....these companies are worthless when it comes to customer resolutions.....

So, Yogi, how did you manage to get more water into the Frigilux?
Was it as simple as repositioning a pressure dome switch?
Or did it involve hacking into silicon?
I feel a bit guilty because I told Ralph I preferred the Affinity over the Bosch of similar size... so I'd love to see him finally satisfied with the water level...

it was actually kinda simple, just had to try it different ways first, many failed attempts, but so far its working great, the first load did fill half way up the glass, even after I put it into spin after assembling everything.....from then on its working out quite well,
simple parts I had around the house...
--tubing- about 12 inches-same size as pressure hose
--an empty water bottle...about 10ounce worked best for me, use a nail and melt 2 holes in the bottom, and drill out the cap to fit the hose
--punching balloons, found at walmart, party section, 3pk about 2.50
--rubberbands
--"T", from an aquarium air pump
now I had a problem which had to be corrected, I used a piece of water line, 3inches, from a ice maker....slid this into the hose, slid balloon over this and rubberbanded it tight, the tubing prevents the hose from colapsing, and installed this in to the bottle, slid cap over hose and snugged in place, fastened this to the top cross member with tape......pulled off pressure hose, and re-installed with the "T" and a short piece back to the pressure switch.....presto, more water
the "punch balloons" are bigger and allow enough air to add enough water....the bottle prevents the balloon from over expanding....and for some reason it works best if installed at the top of the machine instead of the bottom...and I can easily re-connect the way it was, when I need warranty service...
but like I said, an added bonus was the distribution for the final spin changed...it used to take up to 10 of the 12 minutes juggling the load, and a 2 minute spin....now its almost the full 12 minute spin...never gave it a thought that the lower water level was causing the problem

Hey Rich, don't feel guilty. I was leaning toward Frigidaire over Bosch for a number of reasons, and at the time I figured an Affinity couldn't perform that much differently from my beloved (and, as I would discover, far more capable) Duet. I also hadn't seen any complaints about Frigidaire FL's using too little water, just posts by hard core TL fans here who dissed all makes of modern FL machines for across-the-board inadequate water levels and load balancing issues. For all I know, the Bosch Nexxt I briefly considered could be just as skimpy with water.
I'm kind of bad at visualizing remedies like Martin's and I don't know my way around this type of machine at all, but with some help I can probably implement it.

I'm pretty good at such things and have a mental picture of what Yogi is saying.
I think the same thing could be accomplished by adding a coil of extra hose to the original line, in increase the air volume of the system between the sump and the pressure switch. Air being compressible, this would also allow more water into the system before the pressure switch is activated. Probably less than what Yogi's air bladder system allows, though, but perhaps more tunable (for more water, add more length to the coil. for less water, remove some length from the coil). Similar adjustment capability could be had by using a larger or smaller plastic bottle in the Yogi system. I'm just concerned that over time, the rubber in the water balloon or rubber band could deteriorate and fail, resulting in a flood during a cycle...

Rich, the system sounds easy enough. I might have to organize a little local members rendezvous over here to take a crack at it.
I believe Martin shares your concerns about the rubber parts deteriorating and I know he had experimented with various bottle sizes before settling on 10 oz.
I'll need to put a shopping list together and then see what we can schedule once I have all needed components.

FL WASHER WATER LEVELS
Martin very clever fix this should help many folks. The new SQs still have water level controls that can be adjusted for anyone considering a new FL washer although they seem to have a little higher level to start with.

Hi John. I am considering the Speed Queen front loader with the heating feature. Is it complicated to tweak it to add more water?
My problem is that I can turn my LG in for a full credit including tax, but PC RIchards does not sell Speed Queen. And....they are quite expensive...........

I told hubby I wanted the silver set of FL's for either Xmas or our 25th anniversary....I will keep you in mind.....
Rick...I have tried the coiled hose, I had a spool of 150 ft rubber windshield washer hose...I thought this may have displaced some air...and no luck.......I even tried my plan with 2 liter soda bottle, no balloon, but it didn't work all the time, so yes the down side is that the balloon and rubberband will have to be replaced at least once a year, until I come up with a better contraption, this solves my problems for now.....did you need some pics?

Heres the balloon I used
called a "punch balloon", got it at walmart, 4 pack, for about $2.50....biggest I could find...standard 14 inch ones did not hold enough air....

and the unit assembled, read to go in....just disconnect the pressure hose and connect to the "T", and connect the pigtail one to the pressure switch...
once in place, I secured the bottle to the cross member with tape....and set machine for a final spin.....it did fill half way up the window for the first time, I don't know why, just keep your hand on the door so it does not open....

not sure about yours....but mine has 2 screws at the back of the top cover.....remove them, and slide it back about 2 inches and it should lift off....

With your top off.....
keep note that your adding more water and weight to the tub....as it fills with more water the tub will lower down, this is not a bad thing as it's really adding more than you think......mine is adding about 3 times the water as before even though it only appears to just be touching the window....
on the original round door frigidaire, as it filled, the tub lowered and sat on the base of the unit, keeping the water below the door level, when the water drained, you could see the tub lift and center, ready for the spin.....you will notice this with more water, but my model does not sit on the floor, and with the plunging clothes you will see the inner workings bouce up and down as it tumbles with the clothes and water
