Here are a couple of photos from today's rehearsal. The color is kinda crummy because the stage lighting was not up full but you get the idea. (I may have better photos later - a friend who's a professional photographer is going to try to come tomorrow to take some pictures for me.)
The first one of me was taken by the nice lady who plays the celesta. She sits just next to me.
Then there's one of the entire stage taken from the last row. This gives you some idea of the size of this place. If you look downstage left, you'll barely be able to make out my theremin!
Isn't that an incredible, dramatic organ case! It's far more beautiful and spectacular than it appears in photos - you can't see the depth and dimensions of its flowing, graceful lines. And it's huge! It stands over 40 feet tall!!
Then the third one is of Maestro Esa Pekka Salonen, Los Angeles Philharmonic's conductor, trying his hand at the theremin. This photo came out really cool - I had turned off the flash so it snapped with a pretty slow shutter speed, catching a bit of "stop action" with his hand!
You know, I look at these photos and see my theremin on the stage at Disney Hall, and I just have to pinch myself. Can this really be possible? If it's just a dream, please don't wake me up!
