Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

WOW!

Don't I remember the seller of the $1999 set from eBay on here a few weeks back justifying his price because film production companies wanted them, etc.? If so, the 200-bucks is a good deal to have both for collection purposes AND as a source of income in film work!!

Sounds like these would pay for themselves either way in no time!

Paging Gordon Kenmoreguy64

Gordon----your Icon picture, 60's Kenmore, looks EXACTLY like Mom's from my early childhood, I've never seen any other remind me so vividly. What year? Better Pics? But I also remember a cheap plastic measuring cup that covered the agitator top when not in use for scrubbing---my memories are over 45 years old now! Any model number on that old machine?
Thanks

ebay Maytags

That guy who's asking two grand for the pink Maytag set pops up here every few months. He's been trying to unload those machines (which don't work, by the way) at that ridiculous price for about as many years as I've been a member of this club.

Actually he did sell them

He sold them to a movie company who bought them without so much a wink. You might have missed his post explaining justifications of cost.

This goes to show, you cannot judge a book by its cover, there is a reason for everything. He seemed to be straight-forward enough and I at least believed him. Good for him, standing his ground, and getting what he wants I say.

Akronman -

Not to hijack the thread, but the washer is a 1961 Kenmore 70 series. I have better pics in my photo album which you can access from the main screen/page. When I got mine (I think it was 2009) I hadn't seen one since 1974 when ours rolled down the driveway on it's side :-( in the back of a hauler's pickup after Sears sent him out after delivery of our 1974 replacement washer.

Ever since that day, when I learned that getting something new can often have a bitter side, I try to enjoy the current stuff vs. always looking toward something new. I always wanted a new Kenmore as a kid, especially when in the stores, but I never considered what would happen to the old one....
