Yeah, if the microcontroller's got good enough contro over the noise feeper, they can do that...

My favorite trick was still the video of a Siemens ICE train playing the German national anthem *through the train's traction inverters* Sounded weird but neat. Some of OBB's locomotives do musical scales as they accelerate. Back when the NYCTA got the R-142s, a few people noticed the Alstom versions seemed to play a few notes of music as they started up. I've heard some of NS's older MU cars sounded like bagpipes playing....

Can you link the video of the train engine playing the German anthem thru its traction motor controllers?I would like to "hear" or see it.One of the transmitters I use here has a similar system for modulating the final PA tube with the program material-it too makes a strange musical or voice sound depending on program-behind the transmitter sounds like phantom voices-one of the janitors here was scared to death of it-explained to him it was safe and not to worry--"normal transmitter sounds"if it DOESN'T make those sounds then I get worried!when I rode on Wash DC's METRO system subway trains-the AC traction cars made similar sounds as they accelerated or deaccelerated.Thopse cars had variable frequency invertors to convert the DC third rail power to variable frequency AC for their traction motors.

Vancouver Skytrain

I always liked the sound of the skytrain, very spooky and musical.
