Please, help with Servis supertwin mk2

Hi all, here we are again with Servis troubles....at this time it is a serious one..
I was running a load yesterday evening and suddenly the spinner motor stopped working, it suddenly slowed down for then shutting off completely, all this within the few seconds I heard motor slowing down from the other room and was coming to see what was going on, and now it does not work anymore, I have waited thinking and hoping for an overheating and thermal protection even though it was spinning only for a minute or so...but it won't run....tried this morning...
I didn't smell any burnt odour....I have yet to open it as I was laundering a few things late in the evening to be ready today...
What could be happened? If the motor is kaput are there replacements out there? Could I use and fit another motor?

Not sure what kind of motor the Servis uses for its spinner, but if it uses a motor with brushes like the Hoover twin tubs do, it sounds like from what you are describing the brushes need to be replaced. Try activating the spinner and then tapping the motor with something and see if it tries to start again.

I turn the knob and it just do nothing, no noise no humming..what you mean for tapping? i do not understand what I should do..... What means tapping?

Anyway, I will try to inspect this evening as I get home from work.....
So it may just be the brushes? I am not particularly mechanically or electrically inclined, i do not know anything about motors, if that is the case what brushes should I look for? Where are located exactly?

Take a look at the site linked below... it will show you how motors work, and the purpose of the brushes.

I'm assuming your Servis must have a back cover which will let you access the internal components. Take off this cover, then with the spinner activated, carefully tap the spin motor with a hammer or something else and see if the motor reacts. Usually a motor with bad brushes will try to turn a bit and try to start, or sometimes will start and run for a bit. If that doesn't work, unplug the washer, turn the spin motor by hand a bit, then plug the washer back in.

If you are not comfortable doing this, then by all means don't... have someone who is comfortable working on motors and electronics come and take a look at it. Usually when a motor slows down or just stops it isn't anything serious.

Thank you, I am comfortable working with electrics generally , just do not know very much about motors and where the brushes are located, i remember that once I had the brushes came off in my osterizer blender motor when I was changing it's power cord and figured out where they were meant to stay, but that was easy to see it as it was a small motor... I know how they look like but I ignored what they are used for and if there are different types or kinds for each one... i cannot also determine whenever a motor has brushes or not and so where they're located in each motor....
The Servis already had several "surgeries" in the past, had it's spinner belts changed, and from what I could see the spinner motor simply looked like a black cylinder...So I do not know where to look for brushes in it...nor in the case I need them replaced where to look for new ones or what type..
The link helps very much thank you!!!! I will try tonight to pound motor with something and let's see if it reacts... otherwise I will remove it and see to spot these brushes remove them and bring them to an electric store to see of they can help me...
The fact of motors that suddenly stops not usually having something serious really calms me down... As I said I am very ignorant regarding motors....just need someone to teach me step by step.....

I mean regarding components or materials, do they all have springs and carbons? On google shows all sorts of brushes.... cannot also determine by looking externally whenever a motor has brushes or not and so where they're located in each motor....

I felt so ignorant today.....so....

Just got some acculturation over the internet about how a motor works all the afternoon, this was a thing I never had the chance to have teached,nor to look for until now, but this really made me curious about, too bad they don't teach these things at school, they should, this is nothing of complicate and might serve you in your lifetime! They teach so many unuseful stuff, these are the things they should teach instead!
I finally know how a motor works and what are brushes for! Also learned there are brushless motors but that to me sounds like too delicate and easy breaking even if they claim their alleged greater lifetime.....
I was invited to go out tonight so no time to try the banging method for the motor, will do that tomorrow and try to figure out what's wrong with it!
