Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Unfortunately so far I'm not able to reproduce the hard return issue in the post entry box.  Are you guys using the advance editing bar, if so can you turn it off and see if that makes a difference?  The advance editing box seems a little wonky since going to https.

Also if your using the advance editing bar, try using Shift+Enter instead of just the Enter key.  That seems to not cause the issue.  I suspect this issue is only when you have the advance editing bar turned on.  I'll have to trouble-shoot that at some point soon.

So far, so good.

I just noticed this thread today. Everything seems to be working normally for me. I checked the Automatic Ephemera site; this works, and I can see the "https" in the address bar, and on the main site.

I mainly use OSX 10.9.5, Safari 9.1.3, which I know is outdated. I have been increasingly running into websites that do not work properly on this version of Safari, but I cannot update Safari without updating the OSX. So, as a quick fix, i switch to Firefox for problem websites.

Hey Ralph, good catch on the hard-return issue with the advance editor bar.  I think I figured it out and fixed it, it did have to do with the move to https.  However, you need to reload it for it to take effect.  Simply do a SHIFT+Reload/refresh (shift is important) to reload the editor.

Be sure the editor is turned on before you do that.

Shift/Reload Completed

I didn't see any sort of actual "refresh" of the screen when I hit shift/reload after switching advanced editing to ON.  Is it not AKA shift/F5?  My F5 key has this on it:  > II

It's still acting the same (lack of spacing between this line and the one above left in place as an example), looking normal in composition but spacing gone in preview/post.

Had the doublespace in compose issue.

This is a test to see if it's gone.

Well, the compose box still doublespaces per enter.  Advanced is on.

This display is the result.

This line is the result of shift+enter twice.  Looks same as above in compose.  Predicting it will be the only d'space seen here.

Previewing----- yep.

Morning Guys, thank you all again for your help.

I'll continue working on the double space issue today.  Once I added that fix it stopped doing that for me, which is curious why some users are still having that happen.  It may be a browser cache issue.

I didn't see that link issue before Louis, thank you.  I think I found the source of the issue and fixed it.  I'll try it again here....

I made another change to try and fix the double spacing issue in the Advanced Editor box.  I believe the problem is some browsers are refusing to reload the bar's updated .css file code.  It may take some time for all browsers to catch up (which is not an uncommon problem with certain browser's cache system).

It's working perfectly for me in Chrome, Firefox and Edge on multiple computers.

I use Safari on my ipad and I just deleted the cookie for AW.org yesterday after Robert finished his change to https:, and I’ve had none of the issues others have been having. It was very easy, I just went into settings, Safari, website data, selected advanced, located the AW.org cookie and deleted it. Problems solved.

And thanks Robert for all your work making this a safe and secure website, and for keeping it up and running for the enjoyment and knowledge base we all like so much.

I know I've been able to delete site-specific cookies in the past, but since I'm using Windows, Eddie's steps don't apply.  I can't seem to locate this option on my new system.

I don’t use Windows anymore Ralph, but there must be a way to delete a specific cookie. Why not Google the question and I bet you’ll come up with an easy way to do this. I vaguely recall that Windows had a way to go to your cookies, then it would just be a matter of scrolling thru them until you found the cookie you wanted to delete.

If nothing else, just clear the cache and that should do it too.

I'm also still having the double-spacing issue when the Advanced Editing Bar is on.  I am running Windows 10 (please don't judge me... LOL) - would a restart of the PC help, perhaps?

Ralph, heres a wikihow article on how to do a forced refresh on any OS, Window or Mac. Maybe something in this link will help.

Not sure if its related or not but the older, searchable threads seem to be having a hard time loading pictures, specifically brochure scans.

Thanks for letting me know that Kevin, I'll look into that tomorrow.
