Def. staged.
They can just wheel the appliances into any room and it makes the appliances comfortable vs. a laundry room. Even if it is a real house, it's not likely to be the stars home. They wouldn't want that hulla-baa-loo happening in their home for silly photo shoot. Someone sets up the machine at either a rented house but more likely the home of one of the photographers or producers, the star comes in, they snap the pic, the star leaves.
Then of course there is the studio where they have accurate control of all aspects. There they can make up any type scene they want.
And just because a star CLAIMS they owned the machines, doesn't mean they did. Are we to believe they didn't have Maytags or more likely a weekly laundry service? Either way, they probably had cleaning staff that did that kind of stuff anyway.
Ahh- but those were the days (60s and 70s), when appliance advertising was EVERYWHERE and it was relatable.
