I think this is a chicken or egg story, as both Dexter and Philco had wringers. I have a feeling that Dexter was the original wringer company, and Philco sourced wringers from them. However, Philco was ahead of the game in the automation department, and Dexter ended up sourcing their automatics from them. Dexter faded away as they never had much market share, but then resurfaced with the remnants of the Philco-Bexdix commercial hardmount washers, and took off in the coin-op world.
