I am planning on taking a weeks leave and going to "The Big Island"in Hawaii (Hilo)on or around May 1st.I have been comunicating with an appliance distributer there who said that if I got the airfair and could fly over,he has a house on the beach for me to use free of charge and he'll supply all room and meals during my visit.While there,I want to iron out the horrific problems they've had with some of our older model combos and,if all goes well,my trip back to Texas will be only to pick up my dog,clothes and favorite things and move accepting a new job offer as a sales/service associate.If I accept the job,I also get to rent the house!I am expecting the arival of the 1955 Westinghouse Space Mates in turquoise I got on ebay a while ago.The trucking company picked them up monday and I am told they should be ariving at our warehouse no later than thursday(tomorrow)or friday.I plan on restoring them completely but doubt seriously if I'll be able to send them over seas to Hawaii.I know it would cost at least $300 to have them shipped.So I may be offering them along with at least 30 different toy appliances to those of you who may have an interest.Aloha

Uhmmm, not that I would tell you what to do but...

Please think this through very carefully. You are not moving to just another state; you are going to what amounts to be another country. The culture is very different. The cost of living in Hawaii gets to be wearying. Be sure to read Toni Polancy's "So You Want to Live in Hawaii". which will give you a slightly sugar coated idea of what living in "Paradise" is all about.

On the other hand, no one could have talked Dennis and I out of going there-some thing you just have to go and try out for yourself. Just don't go with less than $75,000 in your pocket and other assets and don't expect to get ahead finacially while you are there.
