Pick this small box up fro a Mexican market 4 loads. Seemed to work well and didn't leave a scent. Anyone know what this is? Is it the same as powdered Tide with acti lift??

I thought the Mexican version of Tide was called 'Ace' (pronounced AH-chay). Venus (Austin's mom) gifted me a wonderful variety pack of detergents years ago and Ace was among them. One detergent was lime scented; it was awesome, but I'm not recalling the name.

Now that I have a decidedly non-HE washer, I should hit the Mexican grocery stores for some throwback detergents.

Sadly, the Mexican stuff here in the US is phosphate-free now and it's performance in hard water areas is crippled.
I went on a buying spree back in 2007 and bought up everything with phosphates the Mexican stores had.
Fortunately, I have enough Ariel, Foca, Nueve Blanca, and Viva to last me for years to come. The Viva is still my favorite.

Interesting about the Ace.

I wonder if the stuff sold in Mexico is still phosphated?

I know P&G gave a press that they were removing phosphates from Ariel in Latin America, however just recently someone from Houzz bought a bag of Ariel a new bag from a Mexican grocery store and had a lab test it for phosphates it tested positive. So I went last week and bought a new bag at a Mex store in Pittsburgh...I mixed a Tablespoon with some water stirred than took it to my local pool and spa center it tested very very high in phosphates. So did P&G lie or just not get around to removing the phosphates. I am sure my bag of Ariel was new because the week before the store was out of Ariel... my tap water was also tested and only showed trace amounts of phosphates.

I picked up a bag of Ariel at Walmart yesterday. Haven't used the stuff since around 2010. I assume it's phosphate-free. No matter. The color-speckled blue powder still has the wonderful scent of crushed Sweet-Tarts. That's the fix I was looking for.

Old school: 1 cup for normal loads; 1-1/2 cups for extra large/heavily-soiled.

Lovely.
