Traded out the GSD2800 for the Maytag RR, for the Holidays. The Maytag Reverse racking system is the great for holding large pots and pans. Here are two roasters, with lids for both (the lid for the one in the lower rack is on the right side, you can only see a corner of it) and a glass baking dish plus a few plates and bowls.

Had a load of pre-Thankgiving dishes and pots I thought I'd break the Maytag in with.

Had to turn the hot water tank up as this is a near bottom of the line Maytag (WU242)and does not heat its own water, where the GE did. Turned it up so the water entering the machine is just a little over 140 degrees. Hope this is hot enough.

maytag reverserack!

Nice - I bet all will come clean especially if you have good hot water.
It does look like you are blocking the tower
Can we get a control panel view.
Thanks,
Peter

Here is a full frontal view for you. I checked, the roaster is almost touching the tower, but not quite. They are washing right now, I'll see if all comes clean in 140 degree water. May have to turn it a little higher.

maytag reverserack!

Real nice I think 140 will do the trick. I remember I knew 2 families that had the 300 series from the early 80's and with the good hot water their was no problem!

Wishing All of you a Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow!!

I am going to bed now, and will unload the Maytag in the morning. Wishing all of you a great Thanksgiving!!

Hope you are able to have a wonderful day with your family and/or friends.

Question

Does your Maytag have the heated air drying? If so, did you use it on this load, and did the plastic container in the bottom rack come out dry?

Yes, Doug it has a power blower. The heated dry can be turned on or off by pulling out or pushing in the timer knob. The blower comes on during the dry cycle whether the heating element is on or off.

I had the heated dry on and yes, the tupperware was dry. If I had the heating element off, I imagine it still would be wet, even with the fan. This picture was taken as soon as the cycle ended and the dishes were too hot to the touch.

When the heated dry is on, the heating element comes on maybe five minutes or so before the blower kicks in. One of the coolest things is to watch the dishwasher when the fan first kicks in and a stream of steam comes blowing out of the air vent, under the control panel for about 20 seconds as the machine exhausts the pent up steam from the tub. It's not like some dishwashers, where you see whisps of steam leisurely come out, but this is a little jet stream.

Barry nice machine !
This summer I got one for Mike ( dishwashercrazy ) the same model.
That machine sure does have a powerful spray system !
How did the load come out ?
Did you bake a turkey in that roaster pan and was it greasy ?

Peter here is a control panel shot in a video.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone !
Turn those Dishwashers ON !

the machine you bought, Darren, looks like new! Good find.

One of the roasters had a ham baked in it, so it was somewhat greasy but nothing burnt on. Not too much of a challenge for the machine and it came out clean.

Did you remove the lower wash arm and the round cover underneath? Here you will find thae self-cleaning filter. Mine had some calcium buikd-up on it, as the previous owner apparently hard water. A little soaking in Lime-Away cleaned it up like new. It really increased the wash action, as it could now pump more water through the clean filter.

Oh yes! It got everything clean, so I guess 140 degrees is a sufficient water temp. I havae been using Finish Powerball tablests for detergent and they seem to work well. Another residual load, from last night, waiting to be washed now.

How did your Thanksgiving washload go, Peter?

Thanksgiving washload!

I didnt get to do dishes. I went to Staten Island to my cousins house and they had it catered with all paper goods. (sad)
Hope you enjoyed!

Catered With or Without Paper & Plastic

Seems to be the way more and more are going these days!

Some of our family in the South did it, and heard many in the area went that way as well. Dinner yesterday was paper but the *good* stainless was hauled out. Coffee/cake was same.

Who wants to wash all those dishes? Even with automatic dishwashers the cost of water and power (especially in NYC) is becoming dear. I mean if it's just a small group one supposes it doesn't matter, but once you start going >10 or so it's much eaiser to go with paper plates.

My cousin hit upon the idea several years ago of stocking up on those styrofoam containers fast food and other places use. For any family event that involves people taking home a *plate* .....

Barry I got that dishwaseher for Mike at habitat for humanity.

It was in great shape, Mike washed the sump out just a little brown in one corner ..nothing much to be concerned about.

There was no calcium deposits in the or around the wash modual.

I would like to see a big dirty load in your machine , for I did not have a chance to make a load at Mike's place.

Hope you had a nice thanksging.

Peter & laundress ...

I gag at the fact when peaple use paper plates at a nice function.

I mean like family dinners.

Paper plates are nice to use when you want a platter to take home , but give me dishes at the table.

There was a nice set up with friends and family this year... But..lol..hold on..

Barry here's a pic of the Maytag sump after cleaning... very little dust and some browning cleaned up great !
