Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I was told that when the option is selected it diverts full force to the jets for a portion of the wash cycle.
Surly there is a tech out there that can explain it to us.

It doesn't turn on unless you select the option. I can here the spray not coming out of the wash arm under the top rack when it's being used/on. it's that simple. It doesn't work unless the option is selected. Good grief. I've had 6 years with my machine. I've sat in front of it for many a cycle. I KNOW what it sounds like. And my jets rotate,. a Kenmore exclusive.

Kenmore

A Whirlpool brand now? Newer Bauknecht dishwashers do feature rotating jets also... They're red in colour. The system is called power clean...

Appnut,

I know that what is supposed to happen but HOW does it actually work i.e. there is only one tube of water going from the sump to the back jets up to the middle wash arm and up to the upper arm....how does the machine direct the water to the jets and not to the upper arms when there is only one tube?

Deeptub,

Thank you very much!!! That answers my question. When I took the tubing apart, I don't recall seeing anything inside but I will have to check again. Seems like a very simple but effective way to divert the water.

Timed segments on my Kenmore elite

On Normal wash, the jets run for about 3 minutes in the middle of prewash.  then another 3 minutes about 2 minutes into the main wash and then another 6 minutes.  I timed it on Pots/Pans cycle tonight.  Same sequence as above, but the 6 minute main wash segment is extended to 16 minutes on Pots/Pans.  I've only used it one time while on Normal.  Otherwise, I've always used it when needed and using Pots/Pans.

Pro Scrub option

If your KA dishwasher has the S type spray arm at the bottom, underneath it, it has a special device which turns to different positions and it´s when the wash arms or the pro scrub are activated. You must disassemble the wash arm base, remove the filter and everything to reach this kind of diverter. Its a red circle with 1 hole which turns to different positions to activate either the wash arms or the pro scrub. I believe it uses Frigidaire´s system that sprays one rack at a time, alternating between the middle and top with the bottom and the pro scrub device.

If your KA is still the 4 arm spray wash arm, at the back, where the pro scrub device is inserted, it has 2 stainless big marble kind balls, not noticeable without removing the screws and the plastic cover where the marbles are located, and by magnetism during the cycle they get repositioned making the water flow either to the pro scrub device or to the water column which makes water flow to the center and top wash arms, alternating between spray arms and the pro scrub.
