Quick fix for leaking rinse aid dispenser

Yesterday it was time to look at the rinse aid dispenser on my whirpool dishwasher. It has been leaking for months now. Since the dispenser was empty i figured it was a good time to see what could be done. I took the plug out for filling and went to home depo and picked up a box of #18 O rings. 10 in a package for $1.29. Came home remove the old O ring replace with one of the new ones and no more leaks. It seals real nice and how it goes back into the door is snug. No more leaks.

Same problem!

Mine has been leaking for about 6 months also. Apparently the O-Ring has shrunk or something. I'll try the fix you did since they want $13 or so for a new cap and I'm being cheap. I'm planning to replace this dishwasher with a Miele soon so I'm not spending much on it.
