Hey Tom -good eye! Yes, that's my hometown neighborhood in Michigan and it is, in fact, a Sears catalog home. You will be dismayed to learn that the new owners, after my neighbor's dad passed away, updated the whole house. It HAD potential to be improved, and yet keep the original charm. I did forget the name of the model, but if you saw it in an old Sears catalog, then that's the one. Sears used to be a fantastic company Their old catalogs are a galaxy away in content and so interesting compared the schlock sold today.
Also, kind of co-incidental...the family who lived there had two boys and three girls, all of whom I still keep in touch with, except the one older son who was my age -he died in a freeky canoe accident on the Au Sable river, 34 years ago. He taught me alot about electronics, radio and tv...even if it was rudimentary stuff. His name? Tom.
That house had a double lot, to the right , but now they allowed them to sell the lot and cram a generic house next to the Crescent. You know the expression, "You can't go home again." ? I can't go home and look at that neighborhood. Our old house is up for rent as they couldn't sell it. Lot of good memories - thanks again and hope you don't mind the long-winded reply.
