I have a problem with my approximately 7 year old Samsung top load washer w/ impeller. Back in April 2025 we had to have the tub suspension rods and springs replaced to the tune of $350.00. Before the repair every load we washed cause the washer to become grossly unbalance. Suspension was replaced and cleared up the unbalance during spinning.

Fast forward to now the washer again is starting to get off balanced with every load. I can’t find the manufacture date with serial number.

I am considering replacing the washer with a Samsung front load model #WF45T6000AW $678.00 at Lowe’s and will get a riser. My wife and I have a disabled relative living us and can’t be a without a washer for very long.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Peace and blessings,
David

After 2 episodes of failures of that machine, and you STILL want to patronize that lousy brand?
In my shop we affectionatly called it SamSuck, for good reasons.
Catch up on some reading as well.... like the thousands of ticked-off customers for just about ANYthing made by that brand. - along with all the class-action lawsuits.

Even on here, discussions of the front-load machine are fun reading about how they literally explode, blow apart, and damage homes.
My neighbor got a lousy 4 years from their expensive Samsuck washer and dryer.
Out for trash they went.

My advice, try another brand, or get something vintage that has been serviced by a reputable seller.

I've got a 39 year old Maytag that's still working like the day it was purchased.

That model was released in 2019 I think. Samsungs are junk. Don’t buy another Samsung. Buy a Speed Queen, or buy something used (don’t buy one from homeowner, but one from reputable sales dealer), you can also try GE (but, do NOT buy the fancy one, those ones can literally blow up on the spin cycle, buy the cheapest one possible if you’re getting GE). Do NOT buy the newest Whirlpool top loaders. I don’t know too much about the new front load Whirlpools but the latest top loaders they’ve been making are junk.

PLEASE don’t buy the Samsung front loaders, they are prone to bearing problems and spider arm failures. One of the worst machines on the market. DO NOT BUY a front loading Samsung, you’ll regret it after a year.

If you’re getting Whirlpool, get the one with the newer style user interface. Do NOT buy the traditional six light style (unless you’re getting a pre-2023 model, which would typically need to be purchased used). VMW’s aren’t the best machines really at all, but the older ones are much better than the newer ones. Oftentimes when the older ones fail it’s a simple fix, such as a shift actuator, a splutch, suspension rods, or a belt pulley rubbing against the cover causing a grinding noise. Control boards didn’t usually fail on the older VMW’s, the drain pumps often lasted the entire life of the machine. The suspension rods are cheaper on the older VMW’s, the rods for the newer VMW’s are more expensive. Avoid the 4.5 to 4.8’s if you can. Those are prone to transmission problems and pump wire problems.

Pretty much every Whirlpool top loader made in 2023 or later is a piece of junk.

I’d suggest to avoid buying any recent Whirlpool top loader. I don’t know too much about their front loaders so I can’t say about those.

Here's a photo that I took a year ago in the back driveway behind my house.

Yep. Samsungs are TERRIBLE. The front loaders are even worse. Every appliance from Samsung is junk, their fridges are, their ranges are, their dishwashers are. The latest Whirlpools are just as bad. The LG washers are actually okay, but the sound they make can be kind of annoying. They make this high pitched sound similar to an old tube TV when the stators run.

Samsung is only good for cell phones. Nothing else.

Dan, at the repair shop that I worked at, the brand of TV that MOSTLY came through the door was SamSuck junk!
No lie!
Between 2000 and up to when we closed the shop in 2016, we were flooded with those bad tv sets.

I guess Samsung makes bad TVs also. So, it’s only their phones that are good. I own a Samsung phone, and an iPad. I honestly prefer Android over iOS, but I did and do have iOS devices, like I have an iPad 9 and I did have an iPod at one point. But, I will NOT buy an iPhone. I don’t get the hype of apple products.

I’m sticking with my android phone and my Windows 10 laptop. I’d rather use a Chromebook than a MacBook.

Apple products also need servicing more than any other device, go look at Money Talks Wireless, most of the stuff they get are junk apple products. Bad batteries, cracked screens, you name it. I see far less issues with android products on that channel. Apple products are expensive and are not made well.

Both of my desktop computers use Windows - XP down in my shop, and Win10 my main PC.
And are built by me, and any servicing is done by me as well.
Anyways, let’s go back to washing machines. I wouldn’t recommend the Mideas either. They are not that reliable and parts may not always be available.

Thanks for your “honest” opinions about Samsung.

I went and pulled the sales receipt for the washer. It was
Purchased February 2020. In the 6 years we’ve had this washer we’ve washed rugs, dog beds, regular clothing etc and lots of bed linens. This is the first time we’ve ever had problems with the washer or dryer made by Samsung. We have a friend who has a “no frills” Samsung front load for amount 3 years no problem. My cousin has a Samsung top load that is about 10+ years old. No problems except Samsung did a modification for the exploding washer problems. It’s has run find ever since.

I personally think Speed Queen is overrated and way too expensive
(I know I’ll get beat up for the Speed Queen remark!}. I don’t have the time, or energy to hunt down a good vintage machine. We had a 1986 Maytag model 512A it lasted 20 years. Replaced with a GE top load which lasted 2 years. Replaced with a Whirlpool front load it lasted 11 years before the control board died. Then a newer Whirlpool top load with impeller. It lasted 2 years until the bearings seized up. This happen because the bearings had rusted out. And then the current Samsung set.

I seen good reviews of the LG front loader Model #WM3400CW “no frills” washer for $728.00 at Lowe’s.

I know NOTHING will ever replace our original Maytags. So sad!

I have two family members with Samsung TL machines and no problems after 5 years.
Every brand has some failures, but they still make them and still sell them.

Personally, I would go for the GE Model GTW585. It's a good price, water level control, and a window in the lid so you can see what it is doing.
Please be leery of where you purchase. Some stores have a return/exchange policy of 72 hours or less.
Shop family owned, if you can!

Good luck, seeitrun.
Malcolm
