Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Thanks appnut and Peter!

When you have no idea how long the dishwasher has been running, or will be running (as when someone else has started the machine), such a feature is anything but a nuisance. Thanks again for the information.

Dishwasher Run Time!

Yes I agree - it is more like common sense and they use next to none of it when making these appliances. At one time they were looking at the consumer now they don't. The fact that these dishwashers and washers run as long as they do makes them obsolete in my openion. Plus so many of them don't get the dishes clean and these new TL energy efficent washers are rough on the clothes. So I ask everyone how far have we progressed? When I was in sears the other day I was speaking to the sales person and laughed at the 2 plus grand kenlg tol washer and said how many people have bought this? She said next to none. She also said she isn't supposed to say anything bad. Amazing how they just dont get the fact that consumers miss and want simplicity. And of course reasonable prices. Now a days we don't find any of that and they are all trying to pass off garbage.
The only thing I could think of that was worse is when white consolidated destroyed frigidaire and tried to pass off their products as quality products!

LACK OF TIME DISPLAY

You got that right Malcolm, I can't think of any other information that I would like my DW to tell me except WHEN WILL IT FINELY END.  LOL. They sure aren't going to tell you what it is actually doing any more [ 1st wash , 2nd rinse, heating water, etc ] I think they think the customer is too stupid to understand what goes on inside a DW. I think this is why when our customers call us with a problem they can't begin to tell us what is wrong, because they no longer have any idea what goes on inside the machine in the first place.

Dishwasher manual filter clean every 4-6 months

Ew.

I sense mixed messages from this.  Either A) you should rinse the filter after every load, and 4-6 months is the super-heavy-scrubbing filter cleaning interval, or B) they really do assume that the amount of crud buildup in the filter that begins to affect wash performance is marginal and only requires addressing at that point.

In which case, double ew.

If there's a filter there, and there isn't some sort of cleaning mechanism, then it's not entirely truthful that the dishwater stays "clean."  It may be free of large particles, but if it's pulling all the otherwise pristine-looking water through last month's Pad Thai that is completely immobilized in the filter, then blecch.

I hate the Kenmores because, for some strange reason, they have an issue with clear glass windows. Why would they take the time and energy as well as cost to make the SEE THROUGH glass windows so dark there is no way to clearly see anything???? Just proves there are those customers out there who just buy the appliances for looks, not performance.

For once I have to agree with everything you said.
Now that is a first!

me over the years and since 1993 i learn that with my actual dishwasher i must keep the high temp option active and sometime activate when i need it the steam sanitize rinse option of my dishwasher to get optimal cleaning power, and the cycle i use is Smart wash option i use turbo zone high temp wash option and on rare occasion steam sanitize but i use the no heat dry option for drying.

DW time display

You'll love this, the MOL Bosch which my parents bought last year has a cycle time display. The only problem, their's is the model with concealed controls. So when it's latched and running, you can't see the display! I too wondered when Sears did away with this on theirs. I noticed some of the new style Elites have what looks like a display only it is a row of colored bars. Fewer bars showing, the closer the cycle is to being over. Brilliant!

Silly!

You're supposed to open the machine to see how much time is left.  Of course, if your machine is silent, you risk being scalded by a blast of water and steam.  That'll teach you for being curious!
