WOAH....
Seeing this kind of headline makes me for know, this week for sure that the american buisness infrastructure is not only in danger of extinction but is madly out of control.
It's amazing that a company that just less than a year ago was on it's deathbed and gasping for life...is back from the deathly illness that permeated it's vitality...but is now apparantly well enought to buy the last major (stand alone) Department Store chain Sears Roebuck and Company.
I have been loyal to SRC since I can remember, as well as 90% of my family... with all of us buying all of my vacuum parts/ machines/ stuff there (when I wasn't able to do so thru my connections or jobs that i have held). And although they are more expensive...their appliance lines, tool lines and etc besides clothes are ok with most of us...
I haven't set foot inside a K-Mart willingly since I can remember with their filthy isles of crap, rude, slovenly, ignorant, demoralizing employees...and bathrooms that are so filth ridden that it makes one yearn for the ol' outhouse...becasue at least there you wouldn't catch an incurable disease.
However, this last summer in Mt.Pleasant Michigan becasue my aunt and grandmother wouldn't stop whining (at me driving in MY car); to go....like the hour that we had JUST spent in the Wal-Mart in that same town wasnt enough to make me wanna vomit upon my person...after five minutes of endless pestering, I stopped for them at the local K-Mart.
Because it was a small town store it wasn't as bad as the larger metro stores that I rememember growing up. But it was still mostly the same...bad smell, bad vibe, bad time. I ended up just sitting out in the sunlight hoping for whole body purification, waiting for my family members to emerge from the dark ages.
Im sad for Sears in short...they just lost what little of their tarnished and noble reputation that they had left. Wall-mart is probably just rubbing thier hands with wicked witch glee!!!!
Im wondering what their stores are going to be called in combination...Seamart, Kmears, Sears-Kmart????? What do their intelligent managers think about that?
How about Smart? The store that will fail you since 2005?
Sorry
Im venting
