It is over ten-years-old, and the beater is increasingly hard to put on and take off of the spindle...

My last time mixing with it, I didn't even turn it all the way, so there was an annoying "bump" sound made during the mixing process, but it did mix thoroughly my brownie recipe...

Here, however, is a bruise the beater, otherwise immaculate, got, while the bowl is still good, as in unscathed, and the appliance of which I only use that blade-shaped attachment and once in a while the whisk, (but not the dough hook) still perfectly works...

Like I said, that part is hard to remove, and especially when needing to for washing...

My question is this...do the other attachments have issues getting on and off like the paddle? If not, then I would just buy a new paddle. I have two paddles for my KA mixer, one regular and the other with the rubber spatula molded in one side of it to wipe the bowl as it mixes. Its much cheaper to replace a defective paddle than to replace a whole mixer in my opinion unless you are pining away for a new one.

You only have to replace if you want too.

You can send it back to Kitchenaid for repair and refurbishment.

Repair and Refurbishment Department

1701 Kitchenaid Way

Greenville, OH 45331

1-800-961-0959 EXT 2865

When you contact them you pay $34 plus change (at least that what it was last year) for the ship kit. They send you a pre-paid packing box to send it to them.

I was very happy with my repairs. When you send your mixer back, they request you send the bowl, and flat beater. They replaced my flat beater and adjusted the bowl height.

Okay, here are the other attachments, the wise which only has ben used once, as well as the hook of which my mind is reeling if it's been used even that...

I appreciate your advice, Massmam... They came on and off without needing much guff...

In fact, I even tried the mainly-used beater, and that went on and came off with surprising ease...

So, I don't know what the matter was... The mixer seems like back to brand new...

And I-Heart, thanks for the advice on sending i to the manufacturer... But will I have to take it to the post office, or does it get picked up at home?

There's no need to now, as the appliance will work, except for the nick in my blade... So maybe the paddle will be all hat I have to replace!

Thanks, all...
