Slow wringer on Speed Queen wringer washer. 90p

Thecwringer on the 90P speed Queen wringer washer, is extremely slow . And pops up at anything thicker than acwash cloth.

It worked fine before we removed the tub to,replace the belt.

We removed the wringer again to check,out what might be the problem. , and could not find anything wrong looking at the manual ?

Did we miss something ?

I have the same problem with my Speed Queen wringer and would love to be able to fix that. I hope we can get it fixed.

Hi Folks.

I don't know much about wringer washers, but I'd be checking that the wringer mechanism is properly lubricated.

My guess is that the safety mechanism "pops" when the load is above a certain level, if the mechanism  becomes stiff due to lack of lube, this will behave the same as an overload and will "pop" the safety system.

 

If you have an owners manual it might give advice about what lube to use and where to apply it, otherwise ask again here.

There are others here more knowledgeable than me about wringers, but apparently there is some sort of election on and folks are a bit distracted... Give it a bit of time for a response.

Calling all SQ wringer owners...

Hey Gary and Lorraine,

Even though I'm a huge wringer washer fan and owner of several Maytag and Zenith machines, I don't have experience with the Speed Queen brand. I am aware that the SQ wringer is quite different than other makes, with its "swinging" top cap and upper roll. Just a guess, but perhaps the clamping mechanism that keeps the top part locked with tension has worn down, or worse, broken.

I would also guess that removing the tub has no bearing on the wringer mechanism; it's probably just coincidental that the failure occurred after having done that, unless some damage occurred when the wringer was removed off the post.

Anyway, I don't think people were ignoring the post - I just don't think there's a whole bunch of us that own SQ wringers, at least compared to those that own Maytag, and other brands that utilize a common "Lovell" wringer.
