This has been a hard one to find. Down here in Florida, our choices are Clorox 2 and BIZ. I remember Snowy from when I was a kid doing laundry with Nana. It was a great dry bleach and smelled even better. Does anyone use it?..Where could I get some?
=)

Snowy

I used to get Snowy from Albertson's when I lived in Florida. Here in Roanoke I get it at Krogers. Mark
PS. I like Biz much better

My mom used Snowy for years when I was a kid, back when it came a white box with pink stripes. Then the packaging changed, and a liquid was also introduced, but soon after it disappeared from our store shelves. It's been at least 15 years since I've seen Snowy out here. You guys back East get all the good stuff!

Does anyone know what the current Biz formula contains, i.e. enzymes, oxygen bleach, chlorine neutralizer, or optical brighteners? The other day I had a box in hand at the store, but decided not to buy it as I wasn't sure if it contained enzymes (which I wish to avoid using on wool) or OBAs (which over time will made darks look faded).

I've discovered that using Snowy powdered bleach in conjunction with Wisk liquid works beautifully on light-colored dress shirts that are too costly to use ordinary bleaching agents on, on a regular basis.

Biz was orginally marketed as an enzyme pre-soak and still contians enxymes. Other ingredients include perborate bleach, washing soda, surfactants and fragrance. Lots of fragrance!

The new Biz is very sudsy, so much so that even a small amount caused my front loader to foam up if over used. So restricted the remaining amount for tub soaking and in a pinch laundering without any other detergent,

Thanks for the tip about the suds, Laundress. The idea of a dry bleach being sudsy hadn't occurred to me. My machine is a front loader, so it sounds like I'd be best suited to use something in it other than Biz.

I use BIZ right now in my LG Frontloader. I add about 1/8 of a cup to the presoak dispenser and I have no problem with suds. Launderess is right however, too much can cause oversudsing. It does do a great job however with stain removal and brightening. I would give it a try.

VCS

Has to have some of the highest prices for "unique/hard to find" items one has seen. Would explore all other options including having a member ship some Snowy before using Vermont Country Store.

If one really wishes Snowy, simply find out who is the local/regional distributor in an area which has Snowy and ask if they will ship. One will probably have to purchase a case but that should keep one in Snowy bleach for quite some time.

Thanks for the tip Shane! Maybe when used with an HE detergent there's enough suds suppressant there to keep the Biz under control. The Target I went to the other day only had the big box of Biz, so maybe I'll keep a look out for the smaller box and give it a try after all.

Exactly David..I have Gain HE detergent and it does help with suds control. I have also been known to use TWB powder which is non HE and use just a small amount of it. about 1/8 cup worth and its ok. You can find a small box of BIZ usually in supermarkets. Give Safeway a try.
