Ok, I am friends with a local aplliance dealer. He has offfered me the job of restoring as many of his old machines that are out behind his place of business. i told him we could discuss it soon. He isn't going to pay me no mininmum wage, he will pay me 50% of what we make from the restored machines. My labor, his parts, his machines. my know-how, which he has very litttle from what i've been able to gain from him. He complains that his workers can only change pumps on Kenmores and the rest of the repairs are over thier heads. I usuallly average 25.oo per hour but this guy has about 100 machines in his place of biz. I have told him that I could dedicate 2 days a week at 10 hourts per day at this. What would you do? Considering that about 40% of the machines are newer model amanas with leaky main seals and the rest being a mix of GE, Kenmore and a few exotics from Italy.

Well you can look at this two ways. Used washer and dryers are becoming more popular due to the economy is poor and to purchase a new front loader set is ave 1000 or more. If he has the marketing ability both in traffic in his store and on Craigslist, and he can deliver, he probably will have a good outlet to sell them successfully. What the consumer will want is some type of 30 day warranty. I would say give it a shot with the best machines first and see how they sell. You have to make it right for your time. I would say if you are just doing the labor, it should make you some money.

I'd want to see what kind of traffic the store does in used washers, before I commit. Being in the business myself, I know there are times I'm extremely busy, and other times I might not sell a machine for 2 weeks or more.
