Spanish Persil From Germany - Who Knew?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Henkel bought out Colgate-Palmolive in Mexico a year or two ago. I wouldn't be surprised to start seeing Persil being made there, or their brand Viva change formulas to mirror Persil.

That would be cool (incidentally, Mexican Ariel is no longer available in the dollar stores around here...)

K-Sears on Astor Place/Cooper Union in NYC has Ariel along with an entire section of other Mexican laundry products. Zote, Roma, Focca, and a few others are all there. Not sure which Ariel it is though, the Mexican version or that made in the United States.

I personally don't use it (too high-sudsing), but it's really an economical and effective powder for those launderers whose conditions permit it....

Amazing how that "K-Sears" always seems to carry what most of the others don't!

When the American version of Ariel first came out, bought one box to try. Very high sudsing and the scent gave me a headache. Even after being wrapped in a heavy bin liner, the scent still wafted though the laundry area/house. In the end the bin liner was saturated with the scent as well, so chucked the the entire lot into the rubbish. First time ever threw away an almost full box of detergent.

Measuring Scoops

Germany like many other Western European nations is big on "Green" and or Eco-Friendly packaging. A place where plastic shopping bags have only recently begun to supplant the cloth shopping bags housewives have used for ages to bring home goods from market.

As such plasic scoops in each and every package of cleaning products/detergents is not always a given. It was pointed out by "green/eco-friendly" persons that it was not only a waste of money to give customers new scoops each time they purchased detergent (since they probably still had the previous scoop); but a waste of resources to produce all those scoops and the costs of disposal as well. Persil in Germany and most other areas will glady send one a new scoop or dosing ball, one simply must call the local customer service line, and make a request. Miele USA will send one a "Miele" detergent scoop for use with their washers as well, just ring up tech support. Well they sent us one upon request when I rang up that my older Miele scoop (came with a huge box of Persil)didn't have small enough measurements for using Persil Megaperls.

Think of how much waste Tide and other USA powdered detergents generate with all those plastic scoops in each and every box. Especially considering many people use various other scoops/measuring cups or spoons to dole out their powder. IMHO P&E and the rest keep giving those scoops so they can play with the dosages. Notice Tide and the others never tell one how much detergent to use by volume/cups or ounces as they used to do; now it's "fill to line number .....".

When I use Persil

I usually use very little for Fab results. Most of the time it is about one eighth of a cup. i bought a coffee scoop from Walmart and that is what it measures. A little bit goes a long ways. Trust me. I am also washing in a Miele, so I would ajust it acordingly. I have a 6 kilo machine, sometimes less than the scoop.

I've done two very full loads so far with the Megaperls Color, and both times used only about 1/8 cup. Both loads came out sparkling clean with food stains from cooking completely removed. I have yet to try the regular Persil, but figure I'll start with a scant 1/4 cup and see how that works.

Figuring 30ml = 1 ounce, the dosages I'm using are less than the boxes recommend for light soil in European soft water.

Ritchie, have you ever phoned our local water bureau to ask what our hardness is? I keep forgetting to do so.

Measuring Scoops

We even went through a terrible period of time, where we could only buy refills for some laundry products but no more originals to fill up. Thank God that trend is reversing again.
There are no more boxes or bottles with concentrated dishwashing powder on the market. Just those stupid plastic bag refills without a scoop. That is how they successfully converted us to their more expensive Tabs in the name of "Eco frienly" packaging.

Hey Zip-Dang

Just opened one of my boxes of Persil Sensitive, and it comes with the cutest little scoop. Cannot be sure as the other three boxes are still shrink wrapped together, but am sure all four boxes have scoops! Heaven, I'm in heaven.......

Launderess....there is a fragrance, I know you prefer none, and I hope you won't be overwhelmed by it.

I love it myself. I've grown fond of this product!
