Speed Queen Dishwasher!!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

There is a Kelvinator in the museum which washes dishes without big fins moving in an eccentric orbit. It is before the days of WCI so it, too, is a D&M.

I don't seem to remember SQ kitchen appliances so your find is rare. At least Kelvinator had ranges and refrigerators so the DW was a logical addition to the product line while the SQ DW would always be an orphan in the kitchen.

Cool Find....

Maybe they wanted to compete with Maytag?  There where many years after the "Dutch Oven Range" with only Maytag dishwashers and disposers in the kitchen.

Nice to see in reality - I think I have a service/parts book for SQ dishwashers.  I would imagine they offered a full-line of products to give their dealers an edge, especially smaller dealers.  IIRC there is a cook-n-clean range (upper oven, cooktop and dishwasher below) badged Speed Queen in my doctrine as well.

Nice find!

I have never seen a SQ dishwasher! Here are a few other non-laundry SQ appliances.

I'm still searching for a 1960's SQ washer that would match my dryer and even those are hard to find now!

This is very cool!
I remember seeing the "All in one units" in several apartments in Chattanooga, TN.
Oven on top followed by stove top and dishwasher on the bottom. (where another oven should be)
I think the other badges for this type of set up was Modern Maid.
Why won't Speed Queen make their own USA Dishwasher that used tons of water and has short cycles?!

When McGraw Edison sold. Speed Queen and Modern Maid to To Raytheon, they put out a few new products so SQ would have a bit more products possibly increasing sales and getting more recognition for both lines. I saw some of their, popular range/dishwashers,wall ovens and refrigerators SQ tagged but already knew they were Amana and Modern Maid, not SQ.

Speed Queen Dishwashers!

They need to start making these! I'm so sick and tired of new dishwashers giving out 1-5 years old! Most of them just sprits your dishes, not wash them! And they take over 3 hours! Speed Queen, you need to start producing dishwashers! Rant over! Sick and tired of washing dishes by hand with today's puny dishwashers not performing! Puny pumps giving out all the time! SMH! Call me cranky, but I expect a dishwasher to wash dishes. That is why I have one for. I don't care about looks. I care about results!

Modern dishwashers and modern dishwasher detergents instruct users not to rinse dishes before loading so maybe your washing dishes by hand before loading is why modern dishwashers are not cleaning your dishes well. You are not giving them enough soil to trigger the turbidity sensors so they don't wash long enough. Of course, maybe after giving your dishes a hand job, you are not rinsing them well enough to prevent sudsing in the dishwasher. Maybe instead of shaking your head, you should be reading the instructions.

pre-rinsing

I never pre-rinse anything, and that is why I have a dishwasher in the first place. If it doesn't wash dishes, I don't want it. Speed Queen, get with the program and get back into the dishwasher market if you haven't! Too many of us want a dishwasher that just washes dishes like they're supposed to! No stupid crap! And I don't need fancy spray arms or stupid wifi! Signed, very cranky member who gets so annoyed by lackluster dishwashers.

Jerome,

Speed Queen as it exists now is unlikely to produce dishwashers.  You are aware that the Speed Queen brand now is owned by Alliance Laundry Systems, which specializes in large-scale commercial laundry equipment.  No residential/kitchen appliances.  Only residential laundry which is an offshoot of the fact that they already produce commercial laundry equipment.

I expect the only way there would be Speed Queen-branded kitchen appliances again is if Alliance sold or licensed the brand to some other manufacturer that already makes kitchen appliances.  And then those items would be rebranded models of what that manufacturer's factories already produce.

I've tried not to pre rinse my dishes out before, hated that. Makes the dishwashers stink by letting it sit, got clogged two or three times even after scrapping them off, and doesn't fully clean all the dishes at least on my aunt's LG. I don't care what Jerome thinks but I'm sticking to what my family and I have been doing for years without any problems, I'll always pre rinse my dishes out.

I also don't care what Jerome thinks but SQ will NEVER go back to selling dishwashers, at least as long as they're owned by ALS. They quit selling dishwashers in the first place because there was simply no market for them. Attempting to bring them back is like watering dead plants. Being owned by a laundry company is nearly impossible for them to expand like they once did. I'll say it again, one of the reasons I like SQ is because they're only focused on laundry machines. If they expanded, I'd not like them as much as I used to anymore. This is like what happened with Maytag in the first place, expanded the vacuum market for example by acquiring Hoover was one of the reasons that bankrupted them. Otherwise their best bet to go back to selling dishwashers is by leasing from a company like Hobart. And if Jerome's wish ever happened, I'd never buy a SQ dishwasher.
