In the apartment building that I plan to relocate into, there is a Speed Queen commercial laundry pair on each floor. Since this particular building is about eight years old, the laundry sets are also fairly recent as well. I did not ask about the color or exact models other than that these are coin ops.--Laundry Shark

If those SQ's are cousins to my Raytheon-made Amana's, I was never able to find a way to defeat the lid switch. These do make a nice old-school long stroke sound, dare I say similar to a true Maytag although for durability they don't even come close. If they keep feeding that washer new belts though, it will likely keep chewing through them happily for several more years. As soon as you start hearing the rhythmic "chuggeda chuggeda" sound from below, it's time to report the need for a new belt to management.

The Sounds Were Sufficient...

Since I am totally blind, I could listen to those long stroke, splashy sounds, even with the lid closed. So far, the machine displayed no signs of wear and tear, as they are relatively new, with an especially smooth finish.--Laundry Shark
