I came across this pair for $100 on Facebook Marketplace. I never knew Speed Queen produced a washer with a porcelain tub. They look to be in good shape.

Raytheon machines 1980ish....built after McGraw-Edison solid tubs, but before Alliance...
nothing special in any model or version....problem areas were chewing up belts and seal issues...
if their still working after all these years, probably the very few who made it...

Looks Very Similar to My Amana Set...
Agitator identical, but it doesn’t appear to have the exclusive self-cleaning fill/filter ring around the top of the tub like my Amana. The fill/filter ring reminds of the JCPenney washers which were manufactured by whom..?
Did Speed Queen manufacture Amana machines or vice-versa?

JC PENNEYS WASHERS
Were made by Hotpoint/General Electric. They were based off Hotpoint's Rimflo
Design. They were very good machines, as was their cousins the Filter Flo's.

Similar to my Amana model LW3303, purchased in 1991. Still going strong. Motor has been changed; brake pads; pump (only once, which surprises me); no leaks or transmission problems.
Actually, the only leak issue was caused by the worn-out brake pads. They did not hold the tub in place during agitation, so the combined motion of the agitator and sliding tub caused water to splash over the side of the tub. Simple fix.
I have a similar Speed Queen dryer, but quite a few years older.

These are what my parents had when I was growing up. I remember the dark enamel tub. I don’t know exactly how old they were, I just know my dad bought them new a few years before he met my mother in the late eighties. They gave dutiful service all throughout my childhood with my mother washing diapers and laundry for four children along with my dad’s Wranglers for work (he owns a custom cabinet shop and in those days did everything himself, start to finish with just one other guy to help around the shop so he wasn’t clean at the end of the day lol). In 1999 they built a new house and sold the Speed Queens along with the old house. They bought a brand new Kenmore set for the new house.
