Speed Queen scares old woman

I am a painter by trade and currently working on a house thats empty except for the washer and dryer.
The last owners left it behind because it was too old and harvest gold.
they are a 1968 Speed Queen set.
The lady that bought the house today used it for the first time to wash some curtains.
She was terrified it was going to overflow on her.
She kept yelling at her son that the water just keeps coming in right to the top.
I explained to her what it was doing, she wouldn't believe me.
She pulled upa a chair and sat beside it for the rest of the afternoon in case it flooded her basement.
She is not impressed with the machines and is buying new ones on Saturday. I think I can get a good deal, probably just for the asking.Of course when I was there alone I tried them out.
The washer is ok but the dryer sounds like there is a bunch of hammers going round

But, I bet to some extent, it must've been funny to watch her spasming out, wondering if the basement was going to flood.

I haven't got the set yet. The lady wasn't at the house today.
All the curtains are gone too except for the set that she washed so I'm assuming she was too freaked out and took them home to her other washer.
I must admit I did play with the washer again.
I was suprised how quiet it is.I had forgot how much water it kicks up. When it first started both the wall and myself were wet.
Growing up my mom had 2 Speed Queens.When I was 8 or 9 I had the lid open when it was spinning. A sock drapped over the console to dry was sucked in inbetween the 2 wash tubs and plugged it.
I really got a blast and was told to leave the washer alone.
I didn't listen.

...when my grandmother got her filter-flo to replace her unimatic (with the overflow rinse), she was just sure the fresh water was still running in while it was washing and filtering....took me quite a while to convince her it was recirculating.....
