Speed queen scrubbing their reviews

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

The lesser reviews do seem like educated consumers to me. I've been torn with the glowing reviews as to whether they are the average Joe that wouldn't know the difference, or if they are legit at all. Some of the comparisons to the older series seem odd for a consumer product. Even a bit defensive.

What's worse than hiding negative reviews? Gaming the review system with testimonials. And full disclosure I have no proof SQ or Alliance is doing this but some reviews are very positive and read like testimonials. Other companies have gone down this dark road and if SQ (again no proof yet) is doing this that's a good way to kill the brand. I may be wrong and the 2018 SQ's may indeed be a better machine and deserve the praise.

Those reviews could certainly be phony. I personally know that for years around me lesser quality rental properties get 5 star reviews from the office staff and landlord to balance out the loads of one star reviews of noisy neighbors, no heat, maintenance that doesn't fix anything, ect, ect. Its obvious as day when they are defensive and list all the amenities of the property like in the local adverts- something no legit renter would write.

It is their website, they should be able to do what they want with those reviews. What will be more informative to me personally will be customer reviews from CR and other independent sites that do not include reviews from the manufacturer website.

It's the ultimate irony that Speed Queen a company that grew out of Barlow and Seelig improving existing machines in the 1900's is now controlled by investment bankers in the 2000's (BDT Capital). Any coincidence there have been so many changes since 2015 when BDT got a major stake in Alliance?

In reference to an earlier post, I'm also curious about Alliance's financial figures. And did the redesign of machines start before or after BDT Capital bought up a majority stake? You'd also think the old machine with programming or other tweaks (that a consumer could override later) could have made the old machines compliant? Or were the Dept of Energy Reg for 2018 really too much for the old machines to meet and still perform well?

Anyone one know what's happened to companies like Alliance after BDT Capital Partners buys a majority stake like they did with Alliance in 2015 and if the Investment Bankers (BDT) are now calling the shots?

2018 regulation effects

The old machines were fine with regard to the new regulations and water usage. The old motor simply used too much electricity. If they used the modern motor design that was more efficient they could have kept everything else the same. If they used the slow speed motor windings for agitation on Normal/Eco and included a few pauses, they even could have kept the old motor.

I can say that after the Stephen family relinquished control of Weber Stephen grills to BDT, their whole operation has changed. Domestic sourcing and manufacturing is being all off-shored. I've heard only the high end charcoal products will stay in the US.
Many local Chicago Weber facilities are being mothballed or consolidated.
And I've met a lot of "former" Weber folks recently. So the traditional staff want no part of the changes.
They say it's all changing, and BDT just wants to squeeze more money out of the already very profitable rock.

Be prepared for waves of shoddy Weber quality the next few years until they realize the market will not support their corner cutting.

I am honestly surprised that Alliance has not gone through the same thing yet. Maybe it is, and the market hasn't seen it yet.

I've made a similar question and look at their answer

Hello, Thank you for your question. Transparency and authentic are important to us, and we’d like to help clarify, since there has been some misinformation about our new washers and reviews. We removed positive and negative reviews from our website, because either they mistakenly reviewed an old product or we could not confirm the reviewer purchased the new model.

You're welcome to learn more about our authenticity standards here: HTTP://www.bazaarvoice.com/TRUSTMARK/.
