Speed Queen Spin - is it BELT driven - does anyone know?

I have a Speed Queen top load washer which is about 6 yo 7 years old. Recently it is not extracting water well, with heavier clothes, when I take them out if I hang them up, there will be a puddle of water under the clothing as the water drips from the hanging clothes. Does anyone know if this machine is BELT driven, perhaps there is a belt that may be stretched out? I am wondering what type of repair bill I may be looking at. Any information would be appreciated.

Sounds like you need a new belt...no biggie, part of the maintenance just like on a car.

Poor Spinning SQ Washer

I am assuming it is a Top Loading SQ, if so it may need a belt or other repairs, but be sure that you are using a cycle with a high speed spin, and you could have a poor spin due an excessive detergent caused suds lock, lift the lid in the final spin and see if there is any suds peeking through the basket holes when the tub stops, if so cut down on the detergent, go to an HE detergent or try using fabric softener in the rinse.

Thanks for the response! Yes it is a top load and it is running on regular spin speed which should be 710 rpm. No excess detergent, no suds, so now that I know it has a belt, perhaps that is all it will need.

Could be causing a slow pump out.

I had the same issue with my SQ washer and changing the belt did the trick. I did it myself, so of your handy it can be done. Fair warning though this is not a simple change like a Maytag helical drive machine. It took me a good 20 mins to get the bolts undone and then got the pump off ...it's held by clips and then threaded the belt onto the pulleys , then I found out I didn't need to take the motor assy out...undo the top and tilt the wash system to tilt it upward to get to the clips on the pump, pull down and get the belt on that way. But anyways a belt change will take care of your extraction issue.

SQ top loader- probably due for a new belt anyway.

Very easy to check: Remove the two bottom screws that secure the front panel, lift outward and upward from the bottom. If there is lots of black dust and the belt is glazed and/or cracked that is likely the culprit.
