I have a Speed Queen top load washer. Purchased in 2012 and it has worked very well. On Saturday, the washer was working fine, but Sunday it wouldn’t spin. The agitation is fine during wash cycle, but when the timer advances to spin/drain it just hums. It will not spin water out. I have moved the timer. I have unplugged machine to reset. Nothing changes. Technician came yesterday and he said it was the transmission. Not that I don’t trust him, but does this sound accurate? It seems, to me, that if the transmission was bad, it wouldn’t agitate either. I’d just like to hear if anyone else has had this experience.
I contacted Speed Queen about warranty. I’m waiting to hear back from them. I sure hope it can be repaired and put back into service. It’s a great washer.
