Yes, it has
a pump. And, "Daddy", I finally got it to work.
After I looked under it and tried to figure out how the pump worked, I couldn't hear any sound coming from the pump. I thought the motor was dead. So I gravity drained it into a wash pan.
But as I kept searching around here I came across a thread where someone had the same problem on a SQ wringer and someone said the pumps were mechanical and not electrical. They suggested to the guy with the same problem that there was gunk in there from not being used in so long. Some said to undo a thumb screw and take the old gunk out, clean it, and put new lube in. Someone else said to run a bit of very not water through the drain to see if that loosens things up. I did the not water thing 1st (because I was afraid to unscrew and take apart anything without a manual to tell me how to put it back together again). After the 3rd cup of almost boiling water, I heard a glorious sucking sound! Did a little happy dance around the kitchen. Ran a pot of water through and it pumped out.
So I filled and loaded her up again to rinse the load. Went to drain, turned the power on and........nothing. Noisy, nothing. So I turn the pump knob from "off" to "on" a few times. Got a few dribbles. Found that if I turned the knob all the way to the "on" position it would't go, same with all the way on "off". So I wibbled it a little bit and found a sweet spot somewhere between 'on' and 'off' and she started chugging away.
But it came out in dribbles. Tiny little trickles. I moved the hose around a bit. Lowered it for some gravity action, put the hose back up, and it started to get faster. When there was about 1/4 of the tub of water left it just got stronger and stronger and then just came pouring out. After it was done I threw in a few pots of hot water just for good measure to make sure whatever it was free. That seems to have worked.
My question now is should I take the pump apart and try to find old grease, take it out and pack it with new? If I do need to do that I need specific instructions. I'm just a mom, trying to figure this out. I don't have any kind of repair experience except for trying to fix all my vintage appliances if I can. Thanks so much.
Is there a manual on here that I can pay a fee and download?
