John's emotionally immature responses

Poor John is further showing his lack of ability to handle conflict as an adult. John has less intellect than most on this site, but even he knows that GE tower wash systems are exemplary cleaners. When he continues to lie and say they can't clean in corners he is becoming the laughing stock of the site, as everyone knows a ) it isn't true and b.) knows John to be a pathological liar.

As I said in another thread, his behavior is beyond eccentricity at this point. Even his customer reviews, from his repair service, are notating his issues.

I have seen some adults with emotional maturation levelbissues in my time, but never to the extent of a grown adult who is jealous of a dishwasher. It has been going on for years now, as virtually anyone in this site will confirm. John cannot stand to have his opinion questioned and he cannot stand praise for any appliance that is not one of his favorites.

If anything, he is getting worse. His outbursts of anger, his degradation of other members and his child-like outbursts to conflict.

It is difficult, at times for all of us to not laugh at John's behavior. However, his constant lies, child-like outbursts and disrespect for members of our community are all serious issues that need to be addressed.

Barry I really wish you would stop with the personal attacks on Combo52/John. I think there are a lot of members who completely agree with your opinions on the performance and durability of the vintage appliances we all have in our homes but the personal attacks are not helpful in getting your point across. Many agree with you because unlike the general public we have these 40-75 year old machines hooked up and running in our house and know quite well what they are capable of.

Let me share a story of something that I was involved in. Years ago (like almost 2 decades ago lol) a few members were comparing the wash-ability of a 3-Ring agitator Frigidaire washer to a belt-drive Whirlpool washer. They were saying how much better the Whirlpool was in every way. Having both of the machines in my basement and knowing what I see everyday I decided to make my case that the Frigidaire was superior by making a side by side video of both machines washing 5 pair of blue jeans. I made my point quite well in that video and the majority of the members who posted their opinion after seeing the video agreed with me. I was able to win that argument not by belittling or personal attacks but by using the technology of the time to show everyone what I see and letting them decide who is right.

So please please please stop the personal attacks, you have some very good points in what you are saying but it would go so much further to show us directly why you are correct in what you are saying. Thank you for understanding.

in agreement with you, Robert

I understand, and am one hundred percent in agreement with you, Robert. This site is for us to share, and learn from each other.

Certainly the best way to make a point is by actual observation, as you say by performance tests and other observable criteria. That is why I posted my test results of a load in a GE tower wash with water flow in the lower rack, blocked to prove to John that his negative claims were false.

You may have seen them, last week. However, again John posted his falsifications without regard to the evidence to the contrary by the test results. But yes, absolutely I, am sure virtually every one else agrees that is the best approach. John has never submitted any proof of his claims. We would love to see them.

Like you, I would like to see people behave with maturity on this site, and be respectful of others opinions. When John, or any other member, attacks on people who disagree with them or providing lies instead of observable tests results. It hurts the entire community.

Trust me, I agree with you fully. When we have to stop our primary function, the sharing of knowledge, to address a member's disrespect to other members of this community by their lies, it is a shame indeed.

Actually, since you mentioned it Robert, I have actually posted two tests results of my performance tests of the tower wash cleanability on the upper rack. One in 2012 and the one last week. Yes, we are in agreement that is the best way to make one's point. It is certainly the most civil way.

Unfortunately, some people disregard data when it is conflict with their internal biases, so it sometimes goes in one ear and out the other, so to speak.

I have been working on some other performance tests, as well. Which I look forward to sharing with the group in the near future.

It's good to hear from you, Robert. You seem to have been rather quiet lately.

Take care,

Barry

and that can be said for all of us at one point or another, none of us are completely bias free in our lives, it's human nature in my opinion.

Thank you Barry.

bias

Agree again, Robert. We all have certain biases, that is what gives us our individuality. We just have to occasionally make a concerted effort to help ensure our biases do not separate us from reality, by filtering data. Just as you say, it is part of being a human, and no one is totally immune. We each have our unique approach to life. As mentioned in a previous comment, if we were all alike, it would be a very boring world, indeed.[this post was last edited: 7/26/2024-23:52]

Robert, I agree with what you're saying. No disagreement between us and I mean no disrespect. I only ask that John not call other people names or laugh at them when he disagrees with what they're saying.  John hasn't done that in this thread, but he has been doing it for years transiently in other threads. Other members become offended when he does this, and several have told me how they participate less on this site because they want to avoid a potentially triggering reply.

Don't get me wrong, I want everyone on this forum to be civil and to respect each other even if there is technical disagreement. As I like to say attack the scientific theory being discussed, not the person, his character or credentials.
