Hi all - I wanted to say hello and now let everyone know that this past month has been the most difficult time in my life for me. Even though you all mean so much to me I kept my problem to myself and only a few in this club knew what was happening with me. I found a lump in my groin and I am realy scared of doctors. But it became painful rather quickly. So I went for a physical and have not been to a doctor since I was a kid. I was so scared but at least found for the most part I was healthy and in good shape for a 50 year old. But I was told I have a ingral hernia and would need surgery. I tried to avoid it but was in pain. I keep very active and normaly walk 4 or 5 miles to keep in shape when I have off from work. All of a sudden all that stopped. I went to 3 specialists and decided on the third doctor because I could get it done with laproscopic surgery. The waiting was the worst and finally yesturday I had it done. The operation was sucessful but I had a lot of trouble with the recovery I wasnt supposed to be in a lot of pain but I was - they kept given me morphine drip and that made me sick. Finally after I was able to stand up I felt a lot better. The doctor said I didn't have to come back for 2 weeks but today I have pain getting up and sitting down. So I have to go tomorrow at 4:00PM for a checkup. The worst part is my balls suddenly swelled up. So I am not a happy camper. I hope the surgery was a sucess and that I can move foward from here and that their won't be any further complications. And I want to thank you guys that did know about this for giving me support and helping me move through this tough time in my life. This club means so much to me and in times of stress I can relax and come here to feel better.
Many Blessings to you all.
Peter

Well Peter, for "Pete's" sake!! I hope you get to feeling better rapidly!!

How lucky you have been to avoid the doctor all of these years. Our bodies have a way of "telling" us, however, that we may need medical help from time to time. Thank goodness you heeded its "messages"!

Get well soon ...

Geoff

Oh Peter, that's a lot to deal with for someone not used to medical stuff, I know because I fall in the same category as you.

I wish you the best for a very speedy and successful recovery (I'm thinking/hoping it will just keep getting better as each day passes, once you see the doc tomorrow).

Scott

Speedy Recovery!

Hi Peter, I hope you get along ok with your surgery. Just try not to do anything strenious for a while. I had a hernia repair 25yr ago and it was a very rough surgery back then. My dad had it done a couple yr ago and it was nothing like mine. Lots of luck, and we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Take care

Hey, Peter.

Sorry to hear of your difficulties. I recall now there was a brief mention that you were having some trouble at the wash-in recently at Toggle's. Hang in there and trust the doctor to do his job. Don't hold back any details from him for fear of further attention being needed -- he can't do that properly if he doesn't know what's going on. A fellow at one of my workplaces had a hernia surgery a couple years ago.

Best wishes. Would like to see you make a trip through TX sometimes.

Glenn

Hi Peter,

Sorry to hear about what happened, but I hope the surgery went well and will be for the better. I completely understand how rough having an operation is; I had foot surgery done last May (to correct flat feet/overpronation which is why I started limping during the late hours of Friday/Saturday night at the Convention), and was in leg casts and loaded up on Vicodin for 2 weeks. Just remember to hang in there, and you'll bounce back so fast you won't even believe it (I know I did)! You seem to have a good doctor as well, so let him give you the necessary advice for a speedy recovery!

Best wishes, and we'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Peter,
You poor thing!
You are going to be okay.
The big thing is not to do too much.
Don't stand up fast, and really don't try to lift anything.
You will feel a pulling for quite awhile in that area. It is healing. They removed a bit from your cavity in your groan. That new tissue that they stiched up, needs to strech a good bit. It that is the pulling that you are feeling.
You will be better in no time. Just take it one day at a time, and let you body heal.
Surgery will make anyone feel down hon. Just think of what your doctor told you....You are doing great for you age!
You will feel better than new before you know it.
Brent

Hi Pete!

You made it big guy. The surgery was a success and now it's time to heal up so you can come over and we can all torture you to within an inch of your life!

But seriously, though, we love you Peter, and are all rooting for your speediest and fullest recovery.

*AHEM* swollen WHATS? LOL

Thought for the day...BTW ==> My spousal unit and I did a favor for a friend and allowed a friend of his to stay with us for a number of months (rent free) in that he had nowhere to go. Something however was amiss. Well the deal is, he is now on his way to becoming..... a miss.

OH YEAH, hormones and eventually "the chop". I can't even imagine. Now THAT is something to ponder in terms of complexity of surgery.

I AM SO PROUD OF YOU, YOU DID IT!

-see you soon!!

inguinal hernia

I have one of those as of this moment, but it can't be fixed until another medical conditon I have is gotten under control. Fortunatley, it's not painful

Hi Peter,
I hope you feel better soon. I have had a number of surgeries in my lifetime and often I felt worse before I felt better, no surgery is pleasant but you will feel better every day and fully recover in time.
Take care of yourself. You will be in my thoughts and prayers

All the best.
Hugh

Hi Peter, You have sure been on my mind the past couple days. I know how happy you are that the operation is over with. It will take time for your body to heal but you will soon be as good as new. Take care and I will talk to you soon. Terry

Thank you!

Thank you all so much. Actually this early morning I am starting to feel a little bit better. I am just going to take things one step at a time and will go to the doctors later today. Again thanks for all your kind thoughts and I hope to be in touch soon.
Peter
