Remember this ad? There was one of these washers, in platinum gray, in a store window for many years in a store near my former Launderall dealer. I wanted that washer in the worst way, the color, the solid state controls and of course, the grand style of the Whirlpool slanted controls. I responded to an ad for a serger and found out that it was at the same store as I'd seen the washer in for eight years. I stopped in a couple of times a year and asked about the washer but was always told it didn't work/wasn't for sale/or even sold awaiting delivery. I asked about it again the other day and was told it was gone, junked with other old appliances. Out of sheer curiosity, I went to the 45 year old store and was delighted to find the washer, moved to the back room. It was finally mine!!

Thats a beautiful washer. I always loved those belt drives. Hopefully she starts right up for you Greg.

That is a great washer!!

Congrats on your find!! That is a really nice machine, and the controls are quite intuitive & flexible. This was Whirlpool's 2nd edition of electronic controls, with many improvements on the 1st generation control layout. Have fun with it!! :)

Hey Greg,
Great find! My sister had this in white.Hers would eat baby socks like there was no tomorrow.I told her stop loading it so high.

*jaw hitting floor* good gawd man, does it ever stop? You've talked about this machine for a while now. Nice to see that not only is it in your garage, but the darn thing is brand new! Congrats Greg.

Okay, one quick question. Does this have a microprocessor board that controls the motor functions via relays, or is it like the later KitchenAid with a rapid advance timer?

Ben

I remember you taking me by

to see this machine. How strange that they kept saying it was broken. And then thrown out and now its yours. Why are people so strange about washing machines?
Bizarre

BTW nice score I know how much you wanted this machine and you worked for it by stopping by all the time!
Wonderful color, but a bizarre agitator. Never saw one work but can't believe those fins don't get in the way of the clothes moving.

Now THAT...

is a cool machine!!! So glad you were persistant and got to finally take it home. That's just awesome.

What year do you think it is? I want to say I remember these being around in the mid 80's right? I'm assuming it's a two-speed machine but the "hand-washables" indicator on the water-level setting makes me wonder about a 3rd speed?

Ok...ok. One last question. Wash this machine made near the crossover to DD? That washtub looks very DD to me but obviously it's a belt-drive. Just curious on that too.

Congrats again and hope to see videos!!!

Greg, What a hard earned Find. Im so happy you got it and it was brand new, after all. arthur

Wow

Hi Greg, now that looks like an "electronic Panel" should look like!!!IMHO....love the sleek lines of it!! Do the four indicators under the main selector (turn on power, select load etc) turn red & indicate when you start to programme etc??

I feel I should know this but how does the "Magic Clean Filter" work?? Happy washing, Mike

Wow! After what you told me about this machine, I thought it just might be a new one! Congratulations. I know you love it!

Have heard some different ideas about the reason for the wings on the agitator. One reason was to hold the clothes up away from the drain-holes in the bottom of the wash-basket for better draining.

Don't wave a bag of Viva near her!

Greg, what a fantastic score!! You were sure right when you told me it looked just like new, WOW it sure does. That is amazing. I love that color, once again one that they need to bring back. I can just see that machine with all those red lights and the console light glowing in a dark room!! Congratulations on another great find. After all those years of checking on her she is finally yours!!!

Great catch Greg!! And after all these years...

Why would anyone keep a TOL machine, in a rare colour around gathering dust for 20+ years is beyond! Their loss is your gain, and I am glad it found a good home!
