Sandy, what do you find the most objectionable? The taste, or texture etc? I was never a huge fan of them either, but at least my parents made them with so much butter and brown sugar, it was literally like eating candy.

hominy
grits
eggplant
raw oysters
raw clams
wild deer(venicen)
duck
goose
raw fish
radishes
any hot peppers or sauces

turtle
rabit
snake
lamb
limberger cheese-yukkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!Peeyoo!!!!!

I have tried all of the above at least once.None of which apealed to me. Especialy Limberger cheese.Ewwwwwww!!!

Rich, my positive experiences with zucchini are few and far between. I don't hate it, I am simply unimpressed and if I'm taking in calories, I want to enjoy what I'm eating. Feel free to try and convince me otherwise, but I'll warn you that I'll be a very skeptical audience.

Ralph

One from column A and two from column B

oh yeah you can keep lobsters in general and shrimp with lobster sauce from the Chinese take-out place.

Octopus. If I wanted to eat suction cups, I'd chop up my bath mat and saute it.

Psssst, hey Sandy,

My niece does not like potatoes. Not even over-salted uber-fried Mcdonalds.

She will however eat every bizarre ethnic foods, including boiled dandelions.

Go figure!

Here are just a few of my food dislikes:

-anything from the sea
-dark meat chicken
-turkey
-red meat cooked less than medium well
-dog, cat, horse, wild game(with exception of rabbit)
-pork chops
-spare ribs
-organs of any sort
-ricotta cheese
-grits
-scrapple
-hash
-ranch dressing
-ketchup
-raw mushrooms
-raw peppers
-gelatin of any sort(mostly due to this croatian dish grandma would fix made of the broth from boiled pork knuckles and then left sit overnight and it would set like jell-o, very discusting)
-coconut
-head cheese, braunschweiger, ring balogna, liverwurst
-poppyseeds
-melons of any variety
-apples
-bananas
-strawberries
-celery, fennel, rutabagas, rhubarb, sweet potatoes, turnips, beets
--and the most foul and discusting of all vegetables, CORN

JeffG:

To me, sweet potatoes have a nasty, musty undertaste that I find truly offensive. I can understand why people drown them in sugar and spices; if I were going to attempt to eat them, I'd want all the help I could get, too. I am also no fan of the fibrous-yet-slimy/mushy texture.

It was really weird. My parents had a three-year-old who would not eat the sweet potatoes adored by every other three-year-old, but who would scarf down every Brussels sprout he could get his hands on. And cabbage. And summer squash, which most kids won't eat if you promise them a trip to Disneyland every day for a year.

They should have known I'd turn out to be a little unusual right then and there, eh? ;-)

Gosh Sandy, that's downright inexplicable. The first thing that pops into my head when I think of musty food is Brussels sprouts. My mom actually learned to warn me when she would be making them, so I could avoid going into the kitchen. The smell made me nauseous.

Have you ever tried sweet potato fries or chips? More restaurants are serving the first of those in lieu of potato fries, and I must admit I prefer their sweetness.

I eat or will at least try most everything with the exception of:
raw tomatoes
squash
yams, sweet potatoes
rabbitt
squirrel
Things I truly love:
fried okra
czarnina/schwarzsauer=duck blood soup
liver-calf or chicken
grits
cream of wheat
oatmeal
soft boiled eggs
eggs-sunny side up
organ meats
turkey
chicken-white meat
duck
pork
beef
rhubarb
all vegetables, with the exception of the ones mentioned above. I love sauerkraut, boiled cabbage, and brussel sprouts.

I hated liver as a child, but now I love it, go figure.

I tell my wife that in some ways my taste buds are maturing, but in other ways they never will.

For me it's anything and everything seafood. If it lives or partly lives in water I won't touch it. I was about 5 the first and last time I tasted fish and that did me in for life. I can't stand the smell of fish is enough to make me wretch, except for my aquarium fish LOL. I've managed to survive LOL
I just tell people I'm allergic to seafood, it's easier.

We love seafood. If it's fresh and cooked right it shouldn't taste fishy. We love swordfish steaks. They taste more like roast pork than fish.

I don't like:
Canned Peas. Horrible texture and mushy taste. But I like frozen peas. Go figure.

Squid, Octopus, Yellow Tail Sushi, now THAT is the ultimate in fishy taste!

Zucchini, Okra are on my no no list.

I used to like venison until one day I went to a family reunion where during dinner they were passing around photos of the deer we were eating just before they shot it. I have never had it again.

Kentucky Fried Chicken. Too greasy & mushy for me. Give me Popeyes or Churches or Brown's any day.

~Canned peas and canned corn. Excuse me, but I have to go unswallow now.

*LOL* I will never forget having a Thanskgiving day meal as a guest that incuded canned vegetables, strained, buttered and heated in the microwave. I concluded on the spot that I really didnt miss much being raised in a (very) ethnic home with little connection to assimilated Americans.

[It's a effin' holiday. Make a GD effort!] THIS is the best you can do?

In a pinch, canned peas and corn can make a decent base for split-pea soup or corn chowder. I've not discovered any other uses for them.
