Since I had a vacation day off of work today (big yay) it gave me a chance to put together some videos of the Hotpoint as I had been promising. These video files are large so anyone who is not on broadband its going to take quite a bit of time to download.

Right click and save file as if you wish to save these onto your hard drive…

Wond-R-Dial Demonstration (5 MB)
My Silly (more like stupid) Measuring of the Detergent (4 MB)
Loading the Clothes (4 MB)
Washing (6 MB)
First Spin (10 MB)
Static Overflow Fill (like watching paint dry) (3 MB)
Overflow Rinse (4 MB)
Final Spin (10 MB)
Overflow Rinse Comparison between 3 washers (6 MB)

Yay!

Awesome videos, Bob.

Thanks for the Wonderdial demo.

Love those light pushbuttons.

The overflow rinse comparision was also interesting. (I'm forever in love with the action of a Frigidaire pulsator!)

Thanks for sharing.

Mike

If You Ever Give Up Your Day Job.....

You could be a demoing all those lovely new machines & powder at Sears...LOl

Love the vids Robert, thats some kool dial especially with the neons....

When washing is it just the motor you hear?? its sounds like a slurping pump in the background....

Had forgotten about the tips on the agi vanes until I kept seeing flashes etc...

Cheers, Mike

You go Samantha!

Great videos. You're right about that first spin time though - what a disappointment! They should have used a couple of the static overflow-rinse increments for more spin time, even a spray rinse would have been more effective. Perhaps that rinse cycle was a throwback (and not that far in 1956) to the days of soap in laundry and that it took a tremendous amount of water to get rid of the soap scum...especially with that poor water movement at the top of the tub during agitation.

Thanks for the hard work sharing those videos with us, I know that takes a long time - we appreciate it!

am VERY tickled by Roberts *reckless* pressing of the lighted buttons and the savage sounding rapping he gives the top of the Hotpoint. lol! what nasty belching that pump makes. well done Robert!

WOOHOO!!!! EXCELLENT VIDEOS!!!

You did, as always, a great job narrating the Wonder Dial video and demo-ing the detergent! Glad to see your magic powers changed that (YUK!) plastic detergent cup!

The Hotpoint looks very fun, but they really needed to rethink that agitator in my opinion...the clothes on the top just seem to sit there and it doesn't look like it does much during the overflow, but I can still see the turnover even with that large load! Will "Big Red" work in this machine to perhaps make the action a little better?

And the overflow rinse demonstration...AWESOME narration on that one!! Just like The Laundry Channel!!!

Thanks for taking the time to make & post everything...the effort is definitely appreciated!!! :)

Hi Robert. Thank you for the videos...I emailed link to my cousin in Rockport, Mass.....her mother had one of those and I remember watching it in action. Brought back memories for me.

What fun!! Thank you Robert! Those are the best home videos I have ever seen. Great machine restoration, and explaination! Love how you can work that magic! Be it the change of a detergent cup,or restoration of your machines. (:

Thanks so much for the videos. I love buttons and dials that light up in colors. Your demostrations are perfect. I have been recouping from some serious surgery and this made for some fun in my day. Thanks again, Dano

Thanks!!

Thanks for some fabulous entertainment. That's what makes this site great. Could you please come over to St. Charles and work some of that Samantha magic on a few things I have?

Fred

Truly!

Your videos just keep getting better and better, Robert. Thanks so much for all the hard work and the fascinating comparisons.

By the way, I enjoy these much more when you narrate them--it's a lot of intriguing, good information.

O S C A R N O M I N E E F O R B E S T A C T O R

We have grown accustomed, in the last few videos, to hearing the perfect diction that comes out of your mouth, but to see you LIVE!!! My God! For all of us who have never had the pleasure of meeting you, it is truly the treat of the week, if not the month. It's almost as if you're right here in our living rooms--rough, wild, and stunning.

"MY silly (more like stupid) Measuring" I don't think so. More like: Hilarious and Brilliant. How does it feel to know that the best thing on TV in America tonight is the Robert Show? Members have so much in common: we all love Samantha in addition to everything else. Who knew?

Thanks so much for the towel load in the Hotpoint. Loved the "almost-rainbow "beach towel. Surprisingly fine turnover. At first, expected really poor performance from the size and style of the thriftivator; looks can indeed be deceiving.

My mom told me that before I came to be, many washers oversudsed. Maybe the Hotpoint people engineered a very short first spin and the neutral overflow to flood the outer tub with so much water that a suds-lock, no matter how fierce, would never hold. Will we ever know the truth, Mulder, about the Thriftivator X-File?

Thank God for Rob!

You are the King, the patron saint, the Alpha Male, the work horse, the most generous, AND THE REAL POPE of this wonderful club, and everybody knows it! Thank You so much. Many of us would not have each other WITHOUT YOU.

Good Hight and Sweet Dreams of Washing Machines.
