The Award For The Best Agitator Design Goes To........

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I'll have to vote for the 1976 Whirlpool Super-Surgilator, and the 1971 Lady Kenmore Vari-Flex. And the Maytags have great turnover too. I have nothing against the GE Activators, I'm just judging by what I've used personally.

Maytag

I've come across a couple of GE which I didn't keep long because they had problems, 3 Kenmores, 1 Whirlpool, 1 Magic Chef. The best one as far as cleaning goes is the older Maytag which was stolen by tenants as they faced eviction. It washes my socks really clean.

Not even close

Sears Roto-Swirl. You can find agitators with better rollover, or ones that are gentler on clothes, but not a better/more flexible (depending on agitation speed) combination of the two.

Absolutely!

The Kenmore Roto - swirl!! Excellent cleaning at both regular and delicate speeds. Tried and true!

My vote is for the Power Fin. I love long stroke agitators. Have any of you noticed the "dance" the clothes do in a Maytag. I love it and call it the Maytag Waltz. Since my laundry habits are geared to the functionality of a Maytag my laundry rolls well and gets very clean.

The problem with this question is that fact that they all do a good job with their own set of benefits and limitations. I am obviously voting for my favorite and am willing to face the fact that an overly loaded Maytag will not turn as well as say a BD Dual Action which really is not my favorite agitator.

Kenmore Roto and Maytag Power-Fin

For thier turn over and gentleness. I also jliked watching the roto swirl "swish" away lol

Frigidaire Jet Action

Number 1: The Jet Action Agitator in the Rapid Dry 1000.
Number 2: The GE Straight Vane and the GE Activator

Family had these washers through the years and we washed a lot of dirty greasy mechanics clothes, and these two machines did the best. My parents replaced the Rapid Dry with the 1-18 and the 1-18 was okay, but not as good as the Rapid Dry or the GE.

Kenmore

The 1955 rotoswirl,I really have noticed how the clothes have a really good turnover, but the truth is how much of a load is in the machine. My Easy spiralator has really good washing action actually I think its too powerful. In an automatic the inner tub acts as a buffer for turn over the holes absorb some of the action,in a solid tub you seem to get more turbulant action and tangling. Whatever!!! Bobby

i really like speed queens straight vane....but my 2nd choice would have to be the double duty super surgilator...love the extra baffles at the bottom and the fins coming all the way up to the cap above the water line....now there was movement BIG TIME!!!
