I really can't tell you what it is about having an opportunity to grab / save something and going to grab / save it, yet at the same time NOT having enough space for the new arrivals. It is truly a conundrum. Either that or I really need to tell the doctor to change my meds because they are definitely NOT working! *LOL*

Anyway.... A friend (Steven / wigwag) down near San Diego is going through a lot of big changes in his life right now and he needed to eliminate his collection. I drove down Saturday morning and picked everything up.

As I have a small truck I knew there was no way to fit everything, so I rented a trailer so I could get all this done in one shot. My first time towing anything with this truck and it did pretty good! (Side note, it's a good thing too because with two recent problems at two local oil refineries, we now have a gas shortage here is California and gas prices shot up $0.60 a gallon by friday afternoon!!!!!)

So here is the truck and trailer loaded and ready for the hour and a half trip back home.

Safely home

Here are the "new additions"

First up a matched 1970 Kenmore 800 washer and electric dryer. These are beautiful! I discovered the washer works great as I ran two loads of laundry through it this afternoon.

Next a really nice Whirlpool "Surpreme 80" set. The dryer is gas. I'm not sure of the year, early 70's?

Washer Model: LXA7800A3 Serial: J30454416

Dryer Model: LX17801A2 Serial: M30202723

This set is very nice, but unfortunately needs to go as I don't have room for everything.

Is anyone interested in this WP set? Please message me or send an e-mail.

Next up this early 80's Electronic Kenmore pair. Very nice also and the washer works great, I did two loads of laundry in this one today too!

These are not available as they will be traveling a couple thousand miles East bound.

Beautiful sets amongst those other great finds you have there. Have fun with those Kenmores, and I hope someone here snatches up the Whirlpools.

Have a good one,
James

Next a 1983 Lady Kenmore washer that has "come home" only to be sent away again... haha. This one started out here a couple years ago, before going to Steven and now coming back. This one will also be accompanying the electronic set on their East bound journey.

And surprise, surprise, a PINK 1958 Frigidaire Filtrator dryer! Woo hoo!

For me this would be a keeper if I had the matching washer, however I don't so this one is available too! FYI... the light on this dryer works, but little else does. When I turned the timer, nothing happens. No buzzing, no humming, the only thing is the control panel light dimmed as, I assume, the heater turned on and off. So light, yes. Heating element, I assume yes. Motor and tumbling, no.

Again, send me a message or an e-mail if you are interested in this one.

Dishwashers too!

A Whirlpool "Power Clean Energy Saver 8000" and a Kitchenaid KDS 17. They are both complete, but have seen better days.

Again, if you are interested in something I have shown here, please contact me!

Thanks!

Dan you are funny!

Shhhh... don't tell anyone, but yes!

Very nice saves, Kevin. Wow! If someone keeps this up, Charlotte may be easier to see from space than Signal Hill... LOL!

The green 800 set looks so similar to my coppertone Lady K's. have fun with those!

Good Saves Kevin

Well Kevin it looks like you are finally going GREEN, LOL.

I am glad you were able to save these appliances from the crusher, I have also been involved with doing this for several friends over the years. The Pink Filterator may just have a bad door switch or the belt safety switch may have tripped due to a belt problem.

Kevin the WP DW doesn't look too bad and it is one of the best cleaning DWs ever made, if it does end up getting parted out save me the timer and the PB program switch Thanks John.

The Harriet Tubman of appliances! Sorry to hear wigwag is clearing out, hopefully he was able to keep a couple of specimens to enjoy. He had some very nice machines - they look very clean.

That green Whirlpool set originally came from Omaha a few years ago, found on Craigslist. They are handsome machines - haven't seen any Whirlpools from that vintage or older since.

Your washer area must be like "candyland" about now!

>> Gee Patrick, are you saying my washer area wasn't like a "Candyland" before when you came down for the wash-in??? LOL

But a Candyland now? No, not really. Actually it looks like some "hoarder" broke in and brought all their stuff with them!! Everything is buried 3 layers deep. So.... "these things (and more) gotta go"!

>> John... finally going green? Oh, I've BEEN green for a while now, I'm just a lot MORE green now! LOL Thanks for the tips on the Filtrator, I'll pass them along. Actually I was and still am tempted to KEEP this dryer just because it's SO COOL, however if I had to choose one or the other, I would prefer to have a washer over a dryer. (Now watch, as soon as the dryer goes away a matching pink washer will fall into my lap. That would be just my luck! LOL

>> Greg... Omaha huh? Wow that's cool. This looks like a really nice set. I'm going to hook them both up and run some laundry through them over the next week or three. As for him keeping a set, yes he now has my WP "Brady Bunch" set as he's calling them. You remember, the ones with the "wood paneling".

Again this (1973) WP set is available "to a good home" as they say. Oh and did I mention they are FREE? Yup, free, free, free!

Kenmore electronic washer pics

Hello RevvinKevin,

Really nice machines there.

I was wondering about the Kenmore Electronic washer you posted and if you could do me a BIG favor
before you ship them back East?

Can you take a high resolution pic of the blue logo on the front panel for me ( I think it says Solid State) and a closeup pic
of the Start button??( I want to see if the start button has a 'picture frame' bezel around it)

I have 2 1978 Lady Kenmore electronic washers -belt drives that are on the final legs of a total restoration ( one was a parts unit that was vandalised
for the aluminum and copper wire bits-yep no harnesses and one motor with transmission sold off by repair shop) model # of one is 110.72894830.
both were resuced from a Repair shop that needed the space.

Both of them are missing the harnesses with the long plastic Edge connector that slots over the circuit board side.
I'm assuming that the circuit boards would be different between the 1st and 2nd generation models but
I'm hoping that the Edge connector manufacturer would be the same so if I can get a closeup pic of the
Edge connector on your model to get the Manufacturer and the numbers on the connector please
so that i can source it online??? Maybe it's Molex? I don't know.

Once I can get those pics/info I can then finally start the hard part of the restoration which is to toubleshoot the
electronic issues that got them into the 'repair shop' in the first place.

regards
David

Sigh:

That Kenmore 800 pair is one of the very few sets I would be happy to have even in Avocado.

The others, of course, are a set of keyboard Lady Ks or a set of Maytag 906s....

Wow, Kevin. You were busy this weekend!! Do you have machines all around your pool now? All those avacados....serving chips and guac? Ha! I need to get over there and see all these cool latest aquisitions in person...I can't keep up with you!
