Well, this is an amazing story.  I have a Speed Queen wringer washer with pump.  A few years ago the pump went bad and I was able to find a new one.  In the process of fixing the machine, I took the old pump and bracket out to make sure I found the right replacement.  I did.  Here is the new pump.

I Waited for Greg Nunn

To come for a visit to help me put the new pump in.  I must have taken the old assembly out to make sure I had the right pump to put in.  Well I got the right pump.  Still can't remember where I got it. Greg came for a visit and we got ready to reassemble everything.  When we got the machine on its side and ready to reassemble the mechanism, I looked high and low and could not find the old assembly to take the mounting bracket from the old assembly to put the new pump on.  Here is the schematic.  The missing part was the one at the top - 04333 - mounting bracket.  @#%@### - I knew I wouldn't have thrown it away and where do you find a replacement?

This Has Driven Me Crazy

For a number of years.  I can't believe that I couldn't find the mounting bracket.  I know I wouldn't have thrown it away.  Anyway, I moved the Queen aside and covered her up thinking that I would deal with this later.  Well, I am in a major purge of the basement right now and decided I needed to get this machine fixed so I could sell her.  Here she is covered up and waiting.

I Talked To Greg

About finding a replacement bracket to get this machine ready to sell.  I have a number of vacuums that need to go and thought I would deal with this in the next few months.  While I was posting some vacuums this morning on Ebay, I got an email from Greg with the Subject Line: "Guess What I Found?"  Guess what he found? - the missing old pump and mounting bracket!!!  On one of my basement purges I filled a box with washer parts including a brand new porcelain tub for a Maytag 806.  I filled the tub with washer parts and other things I wanted to get rid of and sent them off to Greg.  He put the box in his storage unit.  He was going through his storage unit today and looked inside the tub.  Guess what he found?  This!  I about plotzed.  I guess I just grabbed anything that looked like washer parts in an attempt to get rid of them.  I must have taken this pump assembly out before he got here and put it in the tub.  I knew I wouldn't have thrown it away.  Here is the picture he sent me today of what he found.  I about fell on the floor.  I sent this at least three years ago.  Imagine it showing up in Omaha years later.  I am a happy camper.

Well

I am planning on visiting Greg in the near future and will pick up the pump and bracket.  Soon the old gal will be working like new again.  She really is in good shape.  The spots are dust and dirt and she will clean up beautifully.

Yeah!

I bet Greg had sticky hands syndrome 3 years ago and finally the dark side lost- Fred!! So great to hear a part reunited with its mother washer- good story!
I know I have to keep a watchful eye on that Seger Boy when his hands start running over my parts stash!!

with a pulley instead of that friction drive it looks like that pump would work in my MINT Easy too!

Someone told me

that Speed Queen parts are hard to find so I am happy you found this. Are you sure you want to get rid of this beauty? If I had room I would love to have a Speed Queen wringer since most of my family had them when I was small. I think this model may have been the top of the line with its wide legs, different wringer and agibitator knob being round. Good Luck !

Even CU said Jetcones were noisy!

Frigidaire even added a rubber seal around the lid to cut down the Jetcone noise, we just have to remember to close the lid!

Sticky fingers indeed! Yup, needed that for my fleet of Speed Queen wringers - LOL Fred packed the box and sent it FedEx, I wasn't even there.

I Won't Comment on Noisy Jetcones!

I have to agree with Greg - this was my own doing.  I suppose I could credit it to Greg with a stretch of the imagination that he cooked up a brilliant scheme to get the pump and bracket out of me.  I wouldn't put it past him.  But we'll give him the benefit of the doubt and at the end of the day, I am gettting it back.

 

Now that I look at the schematic, I am hoping the the rest of the parts (spring, bolts, etc) are around here somewhere.  The good news is that I can improvise with those, the pump mounting bracket is definitely another story.

A vintage SQ wringer is definitely on my wish list! Especially one with an aluminum agitator like yours!
