Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

This Hotpoint gas range is similar to their RB787(electric version) which,in my own opinion, was one of the best smoothtop ranges GE ever made due to its features, price and dependability. In fact, the similar GE model, unlike this one,did not have the automatic (start time/stop time/cooking hours) oven where as the Hotpoint models do.Consumer Reports listed them as one of,if not the most dependable models they rated.

Sadly

They are no good to me at all as my cooktop is Induction and needs ferrous bottomed pans which funnily enough My Mum gave me a set of cast iron skillets and they work a treat ....Who says old is no good..!

Excellent job! I always liked the glass style of cookware better than metal pots, especially cause you can see it cook. I only use stainless steel pots, too many people blame aluminum cookware for causing health problems from the metal leeching into the water.

I wonder what they did and what does "Induction Safe" mean? Glass is inherently safe on an induction cooktop because it won't heat, but what did they do to make it work on induction and how efficient is it? One thing about the glass is that you would probably lose the quick response for which induction is valued because of the thermal mass of the heated glass.

The first time I cooked pasta in my 6 liter VISIONS pot, I thought the heat retention would make it stick. I boil and stir the pasta for three minutes, turn off the heat, cover and let it stand for the time on the package (minus 2 minutes if it's going to be baked). It appears that the slow cool down keeps the pasta from making full contact with the bottom until it's no longer hot enough to cause sticking.

Visions fan here!

Ditto for my sister.  We went to a Corning outlet some years ago to pick up a piece or two to add to our sets.  We found lids and such, but no different items.  The clerk told us it had been discontinued because people "didn't like the performance".  WTF?  We have been nothing but satisfied with ours since day one.  I had one big pot crack in half, but that occurred during washing not in 'use'.  Still a mystery, but the replacement and the rest of the set are still going fine after 20+ years of almost daily use.  I have the original amber, my sister has the cranberry.

Pyrex cookware

I remember years ago that Corning and Pyrex cookware had a metal wire 'spacer' if you were cooking on an electric stove with coils. I cook with gas so I don't use them, but I was wondering if you could cook on a glass top radiant stove with Pyrex cookware without the spacer wire.
