In the mid 1970's, Merry Mushrooms were always in the Sears catalouge. It fascinated me. I didn't find it attractive then but was amazed at how many pieces there were.
In 2013 I am still not in love with the pattern but have a strong desire to have it.
It started two weeks ago when I found the salt and peppers for 99 cents.

I remember the mugs being all white with the design. These were made in Canada and mine are made in Japan.

My sister had the cookware. She used them till the handles fell off. Her's were nicer than the picture, they had a more bigger bottom.

We All Do It!

As we move through life, our collecting interests change, what can I tell you?

If anyone had told me fifteen years ago that I'd be collecting Corelle and Corning Ware, I would have recommended that they see a competent psychiatrist.

I now have a complete service for 8 in Snowflake Blue, and I'm working on serving pieces, and I have enough Corning Ware to equip a restaurant if restaurants used Corning Ware, which they don't.

So, you're perfectly normal!

Oh my - my late mother was given one of the 'Merry Mushrooms' coffee sets as a present from a neighbour. I remember it sat in the cupboard above the ol' 57 GE fridge for years. It was actually still there when my father sold the house in 2003 - I wish I'd have kept it for you!

Brian, would you be interested in a vintage 'mushroom bag'? It was supposed to be good for storing mushrooms in the refrigerator, but I don't remember that ever being used either!

P.S.:

All those metal canister pieces (canisters, breadbox, wastebasket, etc.) appear to have been made for Sears by Lincoln Beautyware, so they would be of good quality. The only thing you have to be careful about is that they could rust if not well cared-for, so good photos would be a must if you were considering something on eBay.
