Totally Fantastic

Well i could not sleep before i went to the opening …… the excitement was overwhelming !!!!!
Totally tremendous day. Really great to see the completed room and all the hard work. The generosity of Al and Mike was very special because the work involved to prepare for such a weekend comes at a huge cost.
Lovely to make new friends and catch up with old ones to.
I loved being able to take the twin tubs over (many thanks to Austin) as so many were interested in the English Electric Liberator.
Great day which i hope we can do again very soon. Thanks to every one Darren

Last weekend...

Halloween too, certainly no trick but a true treat! Thank you all who were there, special thanks to Al and Mike for providing appliances of interest, hosting and catering! I can't explain how much I enjoy meet ups like this, like Darren said above I was rather excited! I enjoyed myself so much so the image attached is my phone wallpaper!

Thank you so much!

Chris

Washarama

The only spooky thing about it being Halloween was how many memories this spectacular showroom sparks off in the mind. The Servis Compact and Frigidaire spin dryer were both in my grandparents kitchen, the supertwin in my grandmas neighbours, the Electra 1100 deluxe at my aunties - I could go on. Lovely to hear and see other machines I'd never experienced before. Darren's fantastic twinnies and the Servis supertwin had to be my highlights on the machine front.

I hadn't realised what was behind the Maytag curtain - that is absolutely fantastic.

It was such a great weekend and a huge thanks to Al and Mike for all their hard work and truly generous hospitality. We were really well looked after and fed to the gills - especially with brioche ;)

Thanks again guys
S :)

Simply Fabulous !

What a collection! What a studio ! To have all those machines with matching dryers, that's impressive.

The Hotpoint filter flo was such a treat.

It looks like a wonderful time was had.

You've all done very well. May it bring you many years of joy.

Hello Glen, yes always a choice and options but its worked out great, need to find a space for the F & P gentle annie toploader now.

Hi Brent, glad you like it, more native brands, hopefully interesting to see!!

Hi Bob, yes we needed you to certify "Bobloads" I can assure you the Miele coped brilliantly in the Neff cookcentre..and we where so busy with washers and vacs we didnt get round to hooking up the vintage dishwashers, another weekend dedicated to dishmasters me thinks.

Hi Ian, just went back and looked at the restoration pics of the EE washtub and yes you are right, didnt notice it before, I think there where 3 versions of that tub, some with corner valve, some with corner valve & filter-flow port and final ones with just filter-flow port and many thanks for providing the reading documentation.

Chris (ronhic) next visit to Blighty you know where to come, just bring laundry!!

Darren & Austin, thanks again for bringing over the twinnies, and everyone appreciated all your restoration work, prime examples for all the club to see & share in.

Chris, glad you enjoyed yourself and thanks to your father Graham for driving you and Phil all the way, hope the drive home wasnt delayed!!

Steve, its always great to bring back the memories of appliances in our past and please dont mention the "brioche" which was yum and yum!!

Hello Delaney and a big welcome to the club, yes we managed to aquire most of the matching dryers to stack with the washers, just need to find all the stacking kits now, glad you enjoyed the pics!! The Hotpoint filter-flows are rather special, based on the GE filterflow design but with added heater and fast 1050 spin.

Cheers Leon, hope you can make it over sometime soon perhaps!! need more space for the wringers though , ha ha.

Hello Jon, the little Bendix is cited firmly in the corner, Big Berta Bendixii Giromatique that you kindly worked on is soo big (first non bolt down) that it wouldnt fit through the door ha ha...its 27+ inches wide and nearly as much deep which is the issue. and we didnt have time to move the door frame!! It is safe under its horse blankets in storage along with the Maytag TL set and wringers.

Hey Mike, congrats on the Vintage array of machines. Wonderful selection!!
Is it at Al's place or yours ???
Where's all the twinnies & single tubs ? Lol
Keep up the great work

Variations on a theme

Hi Ian and Mike , I did a bit of a daft thing when I restored the. English Electric twinnie as I could see that it is a 1420 just rebadged. The wash valve has a blanked off port which would accommodate a filter flow hose to feed a filter dish. Also under the facia there is a place to put a hose which is sealed off. There is also a blanked off hole for a suds return port. I should have taken a few photos before I put it back together.
The best thing about the weekend was everyone's enthusiasm for machines we all love and being able to share everyone's interest and experience.
Feel I have made some great new friends which really is what it's all about.

Darren

EE Twinny...
What about a 4th tub variation - the Twin 6 I had, had a valve box and a further emptying port in the L/H side of the wash tub - but when I looked deeper when I was dismantling it the tub had a blanked off filter flow inlet at the top of the tub as on the Supermatic.
