Oh Boy!!! I pulled into the driveway after work yesterday,and the neighbours,William and Cheryl from across the street came running over to meet me. Cheryl had found the lions!! They told me they both had been cruising aroung looking for the missing lions,and Cheryl spotted them,up against the foundation of a vacant house,just down the street. William got a wheelbarrow and helped me load them one at a time,to bring them back home (two trips) We unloaded them,however did not try to put them back on the limestone caps at the porch entrance. They are under lock and key,until I can have someone cement the lions down to caps permanetly.
Tonight I gave Cheryl a bottle of wine and a gift certificate for $150.00 to a very nice restaurant. Just never thought I would see those lions again!
We figure it must have been some teens,still living at home, that did the dirty work here,as they were not able to take the stolen property home. They must have figured the lions could be stored,hidden on the side of the vacant house until they found someone to purchase them. We do not think this was a prank,as if that were the case,they could have blocked my driveway with them,or put them on the church,or school steps,ect.
One mystery remains......How in the HELL did they get those 200lb+ lions down to that vacant house??Undamaged!! No one could carry them that far. My neighbour and I could hardly lift them,one at a time into the wheelbarrow. These are so large,and so heavy!! Any ideas guys?
