Oh Boy!!! I pulled into the driveway after work yesterday, and the neighbours,William and Cheryl from across the street came running over to meet me. Cheryl had found the lions!! They told me they both had been cruising aroung looking for the missing lions, and Cheryl spotted them,up against the foundation of a vacant house, just down the street. William got a wheelbarrow and helped me load them one at a time,to bring them back home (two trips) We unloaded them, however did not try to put them back on the limestone caps at the porch entrance. They are under lock and key, until I can have someone cement the lions down to caps permanetly.
Tonight I gave Cheryl a bottle of wine and a gift certificate for $150.00 to a very nice restaurant. Just never thought I would see those lions again!
We figure it must have been some teens, still living at home, that did the dirty work here,as they were not able to take the stolen property home. They must have figured the lions could be stored, hidden on the side of the vacant house until they found someone to purchase them. We do not think this was a prank,as if that were the case, they could have blocked my driveway with them,or put them on the church,or school steps, ect.
One mystery remains......How in the HELL did they get those 200lb+ lions down to that vacant house??Undamaged!! No one could carry them that far. My neighbour and I could hardly lift them, one at a time into the wheelbarrow. These are so large, and so heavy!! Any ideas guys?

Your Lucky Day.

Rickr. I am sure glad to see this post. I figured they were gone forever. alr2903

Great news!

I still think it was a group that did it, but no one said criminal minds are too smart.

Good things come back to good people!

I had a premonition that you had not seen the last of your lions. I'm so happy this story had a happy ending for you, inasmuch as I wish you hadn't had to endure it to begin with. Yay for their upcoming permanent installation, but whoever would think something of that nature and so heavy would be a theft target?

YAY!! I can only imagine what a relief that was and that your incredible neighbors stayed on the lookout for them. I'm glad the lions were found and recovered and didn't go too far...quite a surprise they were found almost as quickly as they "grew legs"!

Yay for you! I was hoping it was just a prank and they'd show up of their own accord, but this is just as good!

Sure love to find the culprits, even if just to ask them why the hell they did it in the first place.

Bolt 'em down good, Ricky.

Re: Congratulations:

Hi! Rick, I'm so glad that you've gotten your Lions back as well. You were sure lucky to have your Neighbors on the lookout and finding them for you, especially without any damage.

I agree with everyone else, it had to be mischievous Teenagers, but it is interesting as to how they moved the Lions, given their Weight and Size as well.

It sure is too bad that you have to go through the extra effort with your own property to display them again, for your pleasure and others that actually appreciate their beauty.

Peace, Wonderful News and Friendly Hugs, Steve

Hip, Hip

Hussah!!!!!!!!

Am doing my happy dance for you, Rick!!!!!!!!!

You truly are blessed! Not only with luck and God's grace but having such truly wonderful friends and neighbours! Am so happy to see your house made "whole" again, am almost weeping with joy!

Yes! Get those lions cemented down or even use rebar. Also have them engraved with some sort of identifying marker and take some good close up snaps!

More than likely the low lifes who stole your lions did so on foot and couldn't carry them very far. Or, they dumped them waiting for any possible "heat" to die down before trying to more them on.

Give your friends a big hug from all of us here, job very WELL DONE indeed!

Wow!!! Well Done!!! That is truly a magical thing that's happened - you and your lions are meant to be!!!

I'm glad this story turned out with a happy ending - and perhaps it's a blessing in disguise, the blessing being the fact that the lions are now safely secured to the house!

Yay! I'm so happy for you and your lions!! What a happy ending.

Maybe a couple of people took them to use for their house or something. I suppose a couple of people with a truck could have done it.

This is great news Rick!

You have great neighbors! Glad to see the Lions found their way back to the den. :-)
I am sure you are thrilled.

You're a class act Rick.

My guess is that they pulled up in a little minitruck pickup and set them in the back. You would not hear the truck in the middle of the night. Perhaps on a previous night they scoped it out to see whether they were fastened down.

There are a variety of manufacturers that sell those motion-detection floodlight systems...but with a camera in them. You can do things such as hook it to an old VCR that will record whenever it is tripped.

There is also a box that you can mount in front of your porch or in that area that if someone steps in front of it (you can set it so it comes on after say 11:00pm) it will ring a bell inside the house so you know someone is out there that shouldn't be.

I've got motion sensitive alarms in my backhouse and in both my storage sheds. They're battery powered and they work.
