The washer is to be positioned to the right of the dryer, then the dryer door is reversed to open to the left, and it works.

Thinking back

to all of the places I've lived, the washer was always on the left, the dryer on the right. I've never thought about it until just now. In my current house, the dryer would HAVE to go on the right.

Maytag did it that way for years and years and years...

Because my front loader has the door hinges on the left, I had to put the washer on the left, dryer to the right but ideally it should be reversed since the dryer exhaust is on the left and the washtub is to the right of the dryer.

You won't regret your decision. I got the last of the top-loaders with the mechanical timer just under three years ago. Both the washer and dryer work quickly and flawlessly.

I swear by Whirlpool for other household appliances. But for the price of everything nowadays, washers and dryers should be of laundromat quality.
