And another one bits the dust - quite sadly.

I recently noticed the local grocery store briefly stopped carrying the Finish dishwashing powder - although the tag and space was still there (and the tag still possessed an order code, instead of "DELETE" indicating the line was NLA).

Well, about a week after its disappearance, the stuff reappeared in slightly different packaging. I didn't notice anything different until my friend working the till this morning pointed it out to me. So the period of absence was probably RB bleeding their stock and restarting product sans-phosphates.

Turns out our previous pack of the stuff was also Phosphate Free, although it will have come from the other grocer - as its the larger 1.5KG bottle and "Lemon flavoured" to boot.

Cleaning performance is seemingly pretty similar, although they ought to be given our softened water. I did notice some filming recently, however, as the softener was bypassed due to the local water authority pumping our pipes full of sediment and thus blocking the softener. Since I hadn't seen the packaging of this reformulation, I was concerned something was amiss or maybe enough rinsing agent wasn't being used.

This change may also explain why the DW has started to developed a slight whiff to it these days whereas it never did before. Thankfully, adding some LCB in the last 5 mins of the washing phase took care of that quite nicely.

I was tempted to visit the other grocer and see if they had any left, then purchase it. Although what seems to happen round here is the items, if any remaining are removed from display and presumably sent back - I work at one so I should know... But apparently I don't.

All other brands available (i.e. Morning Fresh, Earth Choice and assorted supermarket brands) seem to have been phosphate free for several years now.

Interestingly, the tablet products we have still have the previous ">30% Phosphates," although for how long is anyone's guess. I'd say the transition has already begun.

Not That I'm Aware

Although given the limited selection here "out in the stix," it could be something exists elsewhere that I don't know about.
