We just switched out a 78 GE dryer for the 79 Maytag.
It drys great and sensors work. I'm hearing a thumping /thud sound as the the dryer tumbles.
I can almost feel it on the left side.

Could something have come undone during the switch out?

I love this dryer. Help please!

No expert, but most likely the drum rollers or glides whatever your dryer has.  We once had a Magic Chef dryer that would play a tune.  In our case after the second set of rear rollers failed we moved on to something else.

It needs

drum rollers, an idler pulley, and a new belt wouldn't hurt either. Those Maytags have no glides. GE's have nylon glides at the front shroud.

Parts

Thumping Maytag stream of heat dryer

It's most likely a rear roller, the idler pulley would make a screeching her high-pitched rattling noise if it were bad, this dryer does have front slides they don't usually make up bumping noise and less they are completely shot.

The blowers are also a big problem on these dryers they tend to come loose on the motor shaft although they don't usually make up bumping noise.

It should still be fairly easy to get this dryer repaired just be sure you tell them how old it is and make sure the company you select is willing to work on it

Thank you Combo

I had the GE's as my daily driver, and when the water heater broke the machines had to be moved. So I took the opportunity to bring the maytag dry back, because I love it simplicity.

Could the move have made the blower part come loose causing that sound, or you think it's the rollers?
