.... and lock me up because 7 days ago I brought home 2 washers and a dryer. THEN 5 days ago I brought home ANOTHER belt drive! And now, yesterday I bring home ANOTHER 2 washers and another dryer!!!!! OMFG I have totally and COMPLETELY lost my mind <br
So... this brings me to the photos <br
This should leave no doubt what the first one is.....

I am pretty jazzed about this because I grew up with a Maytag in the house (a 1964, A700 in PINK!) So I was pretty excited when I found this one AND the control panel lights up!

Yes.. yes... I know, I know...

This one is too NEW and it doesn't belong here! Maybe so, but the next item up after it for "show 'n tell" will make up for it I think.... <br
The woman did not like this Frigidaire Affinity washer for silly reasons... like not being able to "throw something else in after the machine was started"... so they just bought a new TL. I ONLY paid $75 for this 2 1/2 year old washer and it does work PERFECTLY!! (I've already done 2 loads in it)

So now on to the 3rd Item I brought home....

When I left the house Saturday morning I had only planned on picking up both of these washers... never this one.. <br
The guy I bought the Maytag from also had this dryer and said he was going to have someone haul it away. But after I saw it, I said I would take it.

Is the suspense killing you yet???

Hahaha... kidding <br
OK... here it is... the (gas) dryer I also brought home! It's a NORGE!
Does anyone know the year?? Late 50's? Early 60's

The control panel is supposed to light up... but the bulb is burned out. Is this type of bulb still available today?? It's 120V and 25 watt but has a "push-twist" bulb like brake light bulbs for a car <br
Help?

Oh Kevin this is just fantastic. I can't believe all the wonderful things you are finding, and in such great condition! Now for sure I am going to have to get Richie to bring me over to your house <br
The 806 is after about 1976, as it's the last center dial with the gold trim on bottom and no chrome strip on front of the machine (or apparently the chrome agitator cap). I think by then it was top of the line, as I don't think there were 900s in that last group of center dials <br
The Norge dryer is from the early 1960s, I've either seen ads or there's been a picture of the day. There was even a hair dryer attachment! The Stop and Dry handle turns off the tumbling and there's a rack you put inside to dry thing like sweaters, canvas sneakers, and etc. Fabulous design isn't it? Hope you're able to find a suitable bulb <br
The Frigidaire is a wonderful machine too. Richie has had 2 of them now. I think they are a good value for the money.

Drool!

Nice machines! The A-806 is my all time favorite Maytag. <br
Norge's stop and dry lets you shut off the drum, so you can dry items on a rack (that's probably long gone and very hard to find) without tumbling. (It was handy for things like sneakers and other items that shouldn't be tumbled.) <br

Is this type of bulb still available today??

Love that Norge Dryer!! You may not be able to find a replacement bulb in your local hardware store, but try an electrical-components supply house and you should do fine. I found some obscure bulbs at a place called McMaster-Carr. I can't remember the exact web address, but you should be able to find 'em easily enough.

Norge.

Super finds, especially the A806 and the Norge dryer. Norge used a positive pressure design (the air was blown into the drum instead of sucked out). This means that lint will get EVERYWHERE. Open up the dryer and clean it out "real good." The Monkey Norge dryer I grew wup with could build up several inches inside easily (and flock the laundry room too!) <br
Nice collection
Dave

Wash-in at Kevins! Great machines, the appliance gods are on your side that's for sure! I thought with the Frigidaire front loader you could pause the wash and add to the load, I can with mine.

Kevin,

With that name, I doubt the psycho-wards would accept you
Nomen est omen and there's a reason they called them Kevin alone at Home, in NYC, etc <br
Congratulations on your finds. I like Maytags, never saw a Norge in my life, scarce out here <br
That bayonet style lamp (they are used instead of Edison base in the UK at 240V for normal lighting) is used in many US appliances, at 125V. You should be able to find one at any better stocked appliance dealer or a good vacuum repair shop/sewing machine shop - they are/were used in some Kirbys and Kenmores, for instance. I had a terrarium with exactly that light in the late 1960's, so you might try a pet supply store, too <br
The advantages of the bayonet base are numerous. You don't get a shock from the brass base, they resist vibration (spring loaded contacts and you have to twist and turn to remove) and it is even possible to polarize them if you want more than one filament. Wish they were more popular, apart from cars.

Would suggest also contacting a local Lighting company not a Big Box place. Ours in Columbia, Modern Lighting, was very very helpful in locating these bulbs. The salesperson said they are referred to as 'bayonnet'

Congrats, Kevin. You got a great deal on that Affinity. "Can't add an item after its started." The fact that she didn't know how to push the pause button and open the door makes for a sweet deal for you <br
The Norge is a 1963 I believe. My aunt had a matching set almost exactly like that. Must have been one model down from yours...the heat selector was to the right of the control knob, not above it. And it did not have a drop down door. It was a smalled side-swing door with a round push button to open it. The washer was a solid tub with burp-up lint filter and two small knobs next to the cycle control knob...water temp and speed. The control had regular and short cycles. It was time-fill with a 1/2 fill mark on the dial <br
Nice Maytag. Had a matched set like that for a number of years. Mine had blue trim on panel, otherwise identical.
